Topwater Smallmouth Bass Fishing in Canada

Fishing for smallmouth bass in Canada with my Dad on Rainy Lake was one of the best bass fishing trips I've ever been on. The bass were not huge, but the scenery was amazing! For a Texas boy, it sure was a lot of rocks and trees to take in. We had great topwater fishing conditions on our first day out. It was misting and overcast and the smallmouth were up shallow hanging around rocks and boulders on main lake pocket areas. There was also a May Fly hatch going on which made the topwater bite even better I think. BAITS Lucky Craft Sammy Jackall SK Pop Some Kind of Fly 3/16 OZ jig and grub

Just flew back yesterday to NC from being up there with my son for 17 days. It's a true slice of summer heaven. Best video I have watched in a while. Smiled all the way through because I knew just what you were feeling and absolutely love the apparent Godly relationship you have with you father. Looks like you both had some great father son time to remember! Enjoy it as often as you can man. I lost my dad 3 years ago; miss him everyday. You guys are great American's!

A 'hand control' lmao. Its called a Tiller, left is right right is left. Throw it in reverse and point the prop where you want to go. Did you notice that 90% of the boats up there are dented alloys. lol the best times I've ever had on the water are definitely those with my Son. It's 5 bucks for the first fish 5 bucks for the most fish and 5 bucks for the biggest fish and no one is ever expected to pay: -)

Been fishing smallmouth my whole life here in Ontario, and if I may make a suggestion Justin, you should slow down with your topwater baits, especially if you miss a fish. Whipping the bait out of the strike zone at high speed to re-cast just spooks all the fish in that immediate area. And sometimes there's a bunch in a tiny spot. Great video, as always!

Too bad I didn't start following till after this. I would have borrowed you my gear to fish when you where up here. Glad you found some nice smallies in my home lake! By the way, the rainy river has even better smallies fishing than the lake especially in the June/July time frame. Bigger fish are caught in the river each year during tourneys than the lake.

Justin, you have the priviledge of doing something I never got to enjoy doing. Cherish every minute out with your dad. So special to see both of having so much fun, together. One of your best videos, ever.

Sorry to hear that your fishing rods broke during travel LFG: (
You should try Bass Fishing in British Columbia on Osoyoos Lake where the US and Canada share the waters of the lake at the same time

whats funny is I was supposed to take my dad to that lake this year but he couldn't get his passport. And also whats ironic was my rods broke on the flight to Rainy last year too.

should have stopped up by throne bro's or Joe's sporting goods if you were in the twin cities. better rod selection than the dick's sporting goods up here: )
