Amazing Fish Mounts in Texas Fishing Store

In this vlog, I'm traveling down to Houston Texas to visit the largest independent fishing tackle store in the country. Inside the store are some amazing fish mounts hanging from the ceiling and form the walls of all sorts of big saltwater and freshwater fish from around the world. Fishing Tackle Unlimited has everything from kayak fly fishing, to offshore unlimited fishing tackle setups. I'm there at the store to work at the Shimano counter and answer technical questions and hang out with the fishing freaks. See you guys on the next adventure tomorrow with Outlaw on a goose hunt!

Always enjoy your vlogs - that store looks amazing! Personally, I have not fished hair jigs much but I have heard they can be very effective during ice-out or while there is even ice on the water. Using a 1/16oz or a bit heavier fished almost like a Ned Rig around rocks or vegetation which is still alive and producing oxygen is how Ned Kehde (creator of the Ned Rig) told me to fish them. I believe there is an old Bass Pro Shops video with Stacy King utilizing them this way.
On a side note, I can't help but picture skipping those little ones in the video around docks, especially during the shad spawn. I look forward to seeing you hook a few good ones on these baits this winter. Thanks, have a good week!

My experience with Hair Jigs, i live on the west coast of Fla. and have Fished both Fresh and Saltwater all my life since the age of 7, I'm now 57. I almost completely fish Inshore saltwater now, I have found the more often then not a White or White and Chartreuse Hair Jig will out fish my standard 1/4 oz. Cotee Jig and Grub combo regardless what color Grub i'm using, For some reason Snook seem to take the Hair Jig much more often, but i find that alot of angler's i know seldom use them. I think it's one of the most under utilized lures out there. Really enjoy your video's and fishing insight Thanks.

I've used hair fly jigs on light line (5lb P-line) 14 feet or so under a center weighted slip float for largemouth bass. The trick is to fish these on days with high wind and good size waves. The wave give the action your looking for. The ones in the video of yours might work that way. The ones with the action tail might work better with a slow retrieve and the same setup. Hair works great in cold weather, please film your trip with them.

I love that store I'm in their probably once a week, just missed you Justin cause I was actually fishing in the cold and rain. Maybe you could come back down this way and talk to our fishing club again. Also love the hair jigs, when I'm sight casting from the kayak that's all I ever want to throw.

I am a avid fly fisherman, I find my self catching more fish then others using conventional tackle when it is a very pressured body of water so don't be afraid to zing some fly's out there. The fly's i will always use are Clouser, and a woolie booger. I will throw them any time of the year.

First off that jacket is dope. I'm bummed to live so far from Texas I'd definitely come out and hang with you, been looking at getting a bait aster and would feel better buying one you put in my hand. Ps stash is looking good. Lastly where can I get some of those hair jigs?

I have used hair jigs in lakes and rivers with a bobber about 8 foot above the jig it's called the float and fly so you should try that or look it up on YouTube. Also you can just work it like a fluke.

I've never used hair jigs for bass, but when the water gets warmer where I am I'm going to put maribou on a swimjig. The maribou seems to have a really good pulsating action on a fast retreive.

I've had luck with hair jigs back home in New Jersey, haven't been able to fish as much since I've been at a&m. Would like to try them out in Texas tho

we use more of a large fly with a nightcrawler tail behind flashers or a herring dodger. Trout in the high elevation dig it! norcal by lake tahoe
