Fishing in professional bass tournaments is a hard way to make a living. In this third video of the Lakeforkguy background series, I explain why I don't fish bass fishing tournaments anymore. I walk you through my transition from college fishing into fishing professional bass tournaments and the struggles that make it such a challenge. I also go into how I made a living as a fishing guide on Lake Fork in Texas. For a young angler, it was some of the best times I ever had on the water, but when I got a little older, I decided to take another direction into the outdoor industry that would ultimately be the best thing for me to create a family and spend time with them. I'm extremely blessed to be able to still fish in places all over the country and travel to new places of adventure in the outdoors and still make a living. For all of you young bass fishing anglers that are looking to go pro or work in the outdoor industry, I hope this helps bring some context to where this channel is now and where you might end up in the future. Man I found this video late but it hit home with me I had a similar run only I did the hunting and fishing guide/camera stuff after my first military tour. I married my high school sweetheart from the 9th grade, wow, so I had to start thinking along those same lines as well house insurance kiddo possibilities and such. So I had to turn away from the outdoor industry which was a hard pill to swallow I have had the privilege of fishing with some fisherman that I grew up watching on tv just crazy but God somehow managed to keep me humble and remind me His plan was bigger than mine. Anyways love your videos and, the behind the scenes sacrifice it takes to do what you and your family do is is awesome buddy I know you are light years ahead of where you thought you would be but you kinda made it somewhat and that what I like about your content and videos you never forget where ya came from. Aightden keep danglin Ive typed enough my thumbs are tired I hope this reaches you I look forward to following you on your journey bro btw I have a house full of girls too, thanks for the chicken duck thang cause now I have to build a chicken coop and one wants a duck the other wants a chicken and momma dont want any of it hahaha sorry for the long message

I know this is really late, but I really want to thank you LFG for being such an inspiration, and as a young Christian man, its hard to find people you enjoy watching that share the same values.
So, that being said, you have really inspired me to become more of a man, and pursue my love for the outdoors. I have become an avid fisherman, no not professional or college, but I really enjoy it. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful content, and I hope to one day be able to meet you in person!

Sadly, you are talking about real life. School to the real world is tough. Mommy and daddy cant pay for you anymore, and you have to work for your living.
Fishing with school kids, is NOT THE REAL WORLD.
Why would you complain about the world of fishing after it gave you such a great start?
Get a job and stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Who knew fishin was a college degree! Buddy, i got a divorce; in '87. You would have had competition. In the early eightys, i was considering a fishing show. Being s member of Bassmasters since 76 ir was 50 to enter a tourney, but you lose your amateur status. Damn, I'd have changed carriers!

I showed my husband your video because I literally laughed out load when you mentioned the ladies, he tells me this all the time when I talk about women anglers. Love that you talk about your wife and you both share a mutual passion. Love it, you do a great job!
