Haha I've got some snake stories for you man. One comes from when I was in high school. My brother and I were doing a little rattle snake and water moccasin clearing on some of our family's farm pond. Just kind of a reason to get out of the house really. But as we walked through some grass on the banks of this pond a moccasin shot out and bit the tip of his steel toe and got em self stuck on the boot. needless to say my brother went to screaming and kicking and slinging this snake all around lol. After he realized he wasn't going to die; he calmed down and we took care of the snake and called it a day at that.
A second comes from a deployment to Australia. Less exciting but I was driving a little shuttle bus in the outback from the flight line back to where we were staying and this brown snake was stretched out the entire width of this dirt road we were driving down. Hands down the biggest non-constricting/wild snake I've ever seen. Having a little grudge against venomous snakes and because it was hogging the road we had a little snake v. bus action. Also entirely by accident got a little wallaby the next time I was driving. If you ever encounter one I'll warn ya that the little dudes jump a lot farther than you would think

One of my near death experiences involves a snake. I was on a kayak trip. It took about 8 hours, and cell service was next to nothing. I went through some rapids, and I decided to wait for my dad and brother. I was in a sit on top kayak barefoot. I looked to the right about a foot and there was a cottonmouth sitting in the foam right beside my foot. If it bit me, I was straight outta luck. Not the only cottonmouth I saw on that trip. It was about 3-4 feet long. The scariest thing about it was having to paddle past the snake once I noticed it. I love seeing venomous snakes, I've seen and caught hundreds of snakes, and only a few have been venomous. I've seen 8 cottonmouths, 1 copperhead, and one rattlesnake. The first time I caught a snake, I was 5 and it was a grass snake. Biggest snake I've seen was an 8-9ft coachwhip. I love the venomous snakes, they're such a treat, but I try to keep my distance.

i have more than a few, from a banded water snake trying to climb up my leg, to how a game warden helped me unhook a northern water snake, to my friend almost putting himself in traction trying to avoid a bullsnake. i like snakes so if i see one ill try to catch it, or snag it with a hook. you are right most water snakes are non venomous but they are prone to strike. As my ranger instructor told us in ranger school, if you eat it and die its poisonous, if it bites you and you die its venomous.

my snake story was from 2 years ago I was dove hunting and I downed a bird when I want to retrive it I had my buddy come look with me and about 5 steps in to the grass I shouted at him to freeze he stopped dead in his track as a 5ft eastern diamond back rattle snake lay under where is foot would have landed barely moving as it was about 6-8inches in girth an absolute giant snake, we watched as it slowly slithered away thankful that I saw it in time

Dudes like, unfortunately, they just hang around the shorelines. Well, where do you want them to be? They eat fish. Its their home. They're not venomous. So, what if you get bit? You'd have to be picking it up for that to happen. People are so obnoxious when it comes to snakes.

Are you at lake bryan? Tough lake to fish. As for my best snake story, I once caught a largemouth that got bit by a cotton mouth as I was going to lip the fish. Scary moment. Had to cut the line and watch the snake swim away with the fish

Well I was fishing in a corner of this lake the tempers off to a space 60 yards long and only like 40 feet wide and I swam across instead of walking around and a water moccasin swam underneath me and then beside me.

Man that was pritty cool
Yoy found a crawdad claw that was the same color as your jig.
That was tight.
Its all about what the fish are feeding on in the water.

My
Crawfish are either blue or red based on how much plant matter they eat. If they eat very little plant matter, they are blue. If they eat lots of it, they are more red.
