Catching My New Record Peacock Bass!

On this trip I caught my biggest peacock bass ever. We are down the canals of Miami, Florida where the largemouth bass and peacock bass both live in the inner city water ways. We are fishing live shiners on spinning tackle and bank fishing around the bridges. Fellow Peacock Angler's to Follow Lucky Bass Thumb Fishing with 1SG

It is nice to see you guys having a good time with peacock bass. In south America in the Amazon reagion the peacocks get to around 30 pounds. Write on the search Tucunare gigante and you will see. Good job catching them. The peacock was introduced to florida waters not too long ago and they are growing in population and getting bigger.

I am living in Margate, 40 miles north of Miami. Peacock could be a real challenge to catch with artificial bait but not impossible. Many times did that in the past on the lake where I live on. Shiners also an options, but we all know that, those anglers who don't have patience or don't really know how to catch peacock choose shiners.

You mentioned that the small mouth bass usually try to take the bait or lure from the fish you hooked. I'm from South Africa and the large mouth bass do it very often here. If you lucky you get what we call here a Milo ( 2 fish on one lure) but that is obviously a rare thing to see. Love the show btw!

I lived Miami for most of my life and I never used lived bait to catch peacocks. My biggest fish is 7 pounds and i caught it my my 7 weight fly rod on a clouser minnow. I just feel like if you think they don't bite lures well just don't know how to fish for them very well.

You and the Googan squad should come out to Hawaii we have largemouth and peacock bass with some seriously awesome saltwater fishing too. We catch the pecocks on lures and they are a lot of fun!

Very nice, Justin! Always happy to see you catch some nice fish. Florida fishing rules! And 3: 27 -- Mr. Terkla almost fell in. Hahaha. The curse of the Geese.

Nice fish. They are a ton of fun to catch aren't they? It's definitely more of a live bait fishery than artificial, but they are also a ton of fun on lures.
