On my way to set up a tree stand for hog hunting in the woods but the lake is so flooded that i can barely see the trail. There are lots of snakes including dangerous cottonmouth snakes that are venomous. western: LFG big fan here but this disappointed me that you kill snakes. I'm an angler but I'm a herper first. Herping is like fishing or birding but reptiles. There is absolutely no reason to kill a snake specially when you go out into the woods in their home and kill them. Most snake bites occur when you try to kill or harass a snake. Leaving it be is the best and safest decision. There are actually studies on this with real data. Snakes are not aggressive. They are defensive like all wild animals. To the snake you are a large predator trying to eat it so it must defend itself. I visit Texas every spring. If you're interested I can take you on a herping excursion. It'll make a banger video for sure.
