We are fly fishing on the Taneycomo river for rainbow trout and brown trout using waders to get close to the fish. I'm using a spinning rod and reel with a float instead a fly rod to present some nymphs to these hungry trout that are feeding at our boots and surrounding us like a pack of tuna! Dustin: One time years ago i must of been 15 years old fishing with my dad and my little brother and we were max throttle in a 12 foot aluminum boat on the white salmon river and told told that little shit, probably about 10 if I hear that stick bait fly by my head one more time I'd throw him in the water. Next cast i got 2 treble hooks buried into my face right under left eye. the look of terror on my little bro's face was priceless. Lol two hour drive to Portland to have them surgically removed. Lol love u bro

I LOVE trout fishing! I grew up fishing lakes and reservoir. We always ate what we caught. Catch and release Is new to me. People called my fishing cheating because my setup was a a lead weight at the bottom, about 2ish feet up I'd add a pre-tied hook on a 9 inch leader. Then about 2ish feet higher I'd add a second hook just like the first. So it was weight, hook, hook. I'd put Powerbait or salmon eggs on the hooks then cast it out as far as I could then wait for a bite! I've caught a lot of very tasty trout this way! a I've recently started trying to catch a fish with something other than Powerbait! So far no luck, but it's still fun to try!

My suggestion is to get a 4wt St Croix imperial fly rod. It's extremely forgiving and it was a great rod to learn on. If you still aren't comfortable with fly fishing, use the spinning reel on the fly rod. Use some electric tape to mount the reel. It's so cool that you and your Dad have interests in common. Thanks for the great video!

May I ask what part of lake tannecomo was you on cuz I go there a lot and fish by the dam where the trout fishery is at the first point that s aloud and I also trout fish the white river aka lower dam river of beaver lake and the trout there is fantastic lots of spots to be by yourself and to just enjoy the outdoors there

I guarantee if you invest in trout jerkbaits you'll catch trout anywhere in the United States. Why do you think Japanese created BFS and hardbaits for trout over fishing flies. You force and trigger trout to hit a lure. I've fished multiple rivers in Minnesota and Wisconsin, jerkbait never fails.

Get a guide to drift boat fish for trout. You ll catch 7-10lb trout easy at taneycomo. Careful with the fly fishing it got me to stop bass fishing. The fight is always strong and you never know if you re going to catch anything sometimes. It s more of a challenge than bass to me.

The green fly was a pats rubber legs I think and just grab a fly rod. If you watch one of my videos I m using 10 foot rods so it help you pick up line faster when setting the hook and buy your pops some airlock bio degradable indicators! That s what I m using

Wondered what LFD has been up too. Good job catching y'all's Personal Best on both rainbow and browns, hopefully you'll go to Costco or Sam's and get those printed in 8x10 so your dad can always remember y'all's trio to Oklahoma

Looks like what we used to call a Woolly Worm. In the 60 s we used to go to Roaring River State Park in Missouri and fish. The had/have a rainbow trout fishery attached to the river. Lots of fish that would rarely bite a hook.

That s a scud my friend. You fished in my neck of the woods. Next time you want to come up here let me know and we can go fishing there on a boat and I ll show you some other cool spots! Thanks for you video brother

Thats my spot LOL. I just moved to texas though. The trout put up a good fight. I use to be there every day for about a year. That small white fly looks to me like a white or grey snow bug.

Takes me back to barefoot wading the little Souhegan River in New Hampshire, sight casting to every hole in the opposite bank. Every one of them had a nice little rainbow waiting for me.
