The worm when entering the digestive tract stays stuck and causes an inflammatory reaction. A granuloma is formed (a kind of benign tumor that arises to reject the invader. It can cause nausea, vomiting and chronic diarrhea. The other is an allergy problem, the first time you eat, you may be expelled, but the body has already known it and the second or third time an allergic reaction develops that can be very serious and It may require hospitalization, but it can also be very simple and only generates hives.

I don't like the trout - in fact, any trout. They all seem to mushy a flesh for me. I would rather eat a sheepshead any day. I've caught the fish with worms including almost all of them, but especially in the drum, including the redfish drum and trout. I'd cook them up and the family would never know. However, I gotta admit, those worms are quite disgusting. I always try to cut them out.

Most of the worms that live in the gut of croaker/drum, jacks, toadfish, cod, etc are not actually worms but copepods that lose their legs and exoskeletons during their parasitic phase. They're essentially just shell-less shrimp.

Great video Victor. Love your and Brooke's channes and the catch and cooks you guys do. If you guys want to get on some monster black drum sometime we have some big schools available in the northern Indian River.

Have you ever caught anything really unusual on hook and line? I've caught a few rather large mantis shrimp while flounder fishing and spiny lobster on sabiki while bait fishing.

I dont think I've encountered worms in trout here in VA. If they did have them, they were too small to see. I have found some parasites in puppy drum though, both reds and blacks.

The other you do is have another bowl of ice and sit the batter bowl in the ice to keep the batter extremely cold so when you throw it into the heat it will puff up nicely
