So there are bonefish in Hawaii. Local name is O'io. How does one make fishcake from O'io? the tail gets cut off and one rolls the meat out the hole in the tail with a bottle. move the meat towards the cut off tail and after 3 or 4 rolling (or squeezing) turns most of the meat is squished out. What's left is the skin with the skeleton inside with its 10 million small bones. Could not find this on youtube, but I have done it. Bonefish in Hawaii grow to bigger size than in Florida. Could the same method be used with the knife fish? I also learned that knife fish come from really turbid rivers and they have weak electric organs used for locating prey. Nice catch! Good video!

This is an extremely extremely boney fish. We call this Fish in Bengal (India) as Chitol. it's one of the top predators in a pond. The fish is very tasty, you can make fish balls and then cook it in gravy. The belly of the Fish is considered as a delicacy in Bengal. you need to be very careful while eating this fish as you may get bones stuck in your throat.

Man, that fish is very expensive in here. You can make pempek(tradisional fishcake in indonesia) with that, that fish is very rare, cause overfishing in here. So we don't use much as we do in the past when this fish very common in here, we just take other fish like snakehead, grouper, mackerel, or snapper for making pempek

Looks like similar meat consistency as Yangtze knife fish which is an extremely high valued catch in China. Valued for its delicate texture and high Umami taste, knife fish can sell for 500 USD/kg. Best enjoyed steamed so you don't have to turn the fish into mush trying to de bone it.

There called strippers an they do breed an all the time up here
Look up the stats released fish in lakes, ponds takes up to 4 hours to regain there Original Stength an in rivers and streams it only takes two hours to regain because there more oxygen

Great content! Small tip though. don't put cooked potato into a food processor, it actvates starch and you will end up with a displeasing glue texture. Process all ingredients as per vid and cut and fold mash in along with egg at the end. :)

one of the best eating freshwater fish, firm succulent bouncy fish balls sans additive just on its own. belly portion is also great steamed. scale the skin. wash clean and fry the skin in oil. crispy crisps.

Its not an invasive species, its a naturalized species. As are snakeheads and pythons, at this point. Weve reset the ecosystem via global migrations. You have have global peopling without global eco-resets.

Years ago I paid about 40 for a clown knife a fraction of that size for my aquarium. I had no idea they would even get that large in the wild. Great vid, insane catch, and that recipe was incredible to watch!

I thought you'd need a dry binder too would that make the texture different by adding a dry one too? It just seems like it would hold a lot better with a dry binder added. idk just a thought
