The thing about Texas is that it's 97% private. Almost all, if not all, the land around the Pecos is private. This is one of the challenges (same with Devils River and others. This makes me think these horses might not be all that wild. On the other hand if you paddle the Rio Grande through Big Bend Nat'l Park and see horses, those are wild (assuming not on private property on the Mexican side. But of course there is no way for me to know if these horses belong to a land owner or not, that's an assumption on my part. Great video, I hope to paddle the Pecos at some point in the next couple of years.

I disagree with the statement made at 9: 15. My buddy caught nearly a 10lb bass on the Pecos and he was caught in the clear spring water you show at 10: 10. We call it the Chester hole. Chester weighed in over 9lbs (and was very poor looking/skinny) and we caught an 8lb bass to back him up. We hunt on the Pecos and wade down to the Chester hole from a river crossing about 800 yards up river.

Robert, planning on doing this trip next March or April. Did Devils this past May- tough trip with the end in our face the entire time. Not sure we can take 8 days. What is a reasonable trip length to consider for this stretch of the Pecos? Also does everyone get a yak tug from boat at the end? How far usually? thanks

SERIAL TRESPASSER, Mr Field. STAY ON THE NAVIGABLE STREAM and stay out of side canyons, petroglyphs sites, and any vegetated dry land unless it's an island. Your self-promotion and law breaking does not make Texas proud.

Pecos River is a wonderful place, I caught my first rainbow trout in the Pecos river. Looks like fun canoeing with buddies. Why do you let the fish go and not eat them? Thanks for the nice videos.

Amazing. I used to fish for trout in the very start of the Pecos and its tributaries in the mountains of northern NM. Had no idea it grew up to be such a beautiful river down in TX.

Hey Robert, could you make a video dedicated to Kayak dress gear/clothing waders or Neop. boots etc etc and no BS sponsor talk. the real experience and your advise would be great

I live in Fort Stockton and want to start enjoying my big back yard. I own neither at the moment but what do you believe would be the most enjoyable for this trip a canoe or kayak?
