In this episode, I'm boarding the Captain's Lady out of Bowers Beach, Delaware to chase big black drum. A storm runs us off the bay before we land any, but we boat multiple smooth dogfish in the short time we have. We head to Cape Henlopen to do a little pier fishing for flounder and cook up some dogfish steaks. They turned out to be delicious despite a serious lack of cooking supplies. Lots of laughs in this one!

really enjoyed the video mate, i haven't watched many US vids, some are too crazy on the extra loud music but this was great seeing some guys having real fun enjoying what they do. in Britain we have dogfish but i think the species that you were catching we call smoothound, a bigger cousin of the dogfish. we also get what some call stary smoothound because of their markings but its the same species. keep up the good work mate and i'll be sure to keep watching some way to go to see the carrot eating ceremony yet though

Robert, if you take a dogfish steak use a cookie cutter to cut out 1 to 2 inch circles.
Take about 5 lbs of fish cookies and mix in about 1 lbs of sea scallops and let them sit in the refrigerator for 24 hrs and you have 6 lbs of scallops to fry up
The shark will take on the flavor of the scallops as well as close to the same texture, good eating.

Smooth Dogfish
Moist and firm with some oils
Cod-like flavor, but with more kick
Not as fishy as bluefish
Great for making a meat and vegetable stir fry featuring raw green beans with black pepper and oregano or cilantro
Grilled, baked, or smoked with plenty of black pepper and a touch of shredded ginger with 2 or 3 basil leaves

In Washington state we call them mud sharks and ours have a big hooked Barb off their back that will cut the hell out of you also no they are not good eating the only people up here to eat them are the natives but they are fun to catch Ive got them up to 4. 5 feet and they can be fun

i've worked with dogfish for a while i tried it and it taste like nothing most expensive part of the fish is fins n tails it's a delicacy in china dogfish backs are sent to germany and the bellies to france where they smoke them like beef jerkys

Here in Washington during crabbing season, there is so many damn dogfish. It doesnt matter what kind of meat you throw down you will get one in one second every time
