one dyson fan/airpurifier= what pc. WIth 3070 fe and 1400rpm 140mm push pull and top exhausts. Pair that with a 65% max speed on the 3070FE with a user defined curve. Means 60 replacement plan with FE vs 100 extra for a STRIX or MSI 600 card. ETC What amazes me most is at stock it runs at 2080 tdp, with these AIB and the 8 pin connectors they run 250-75w among the AIB...then they have the multibios OPOP cards and maxed powersetting+max clock OCS. Using the 325-330w 2080ti Strix OC tdp. Yet the thermals are probably amazing vs the 2080ti strix oc. Whats also nuts is the Cross compared tdp of the 3080 tuf at 338w. I wonder if a 3070 TI or etc will have a larger than 256-bit buffer with 10-12gb ddr6 as a clap back to big navi. 7nm with more rastors tensor cores etc.

Here in Germany, the price isn't 600...its 749-799 ...100 over the 699 of the 3080 FE...The Problem here is, thanks to the scarce Market, dealers put a 100-150 sometimes even more markup to ALL 3000 Series Cards. A 3080 Strix is 999+ . You only get one for 860 is you buy it directly from Asus. Sometimes Amazon itself sells for MSRP and FEs are sold at the one certified dealer for MSRP...other then that you are out of Luck...and yet every Card is sold out... and that is not including scalpers....sry for my bad English

Pretty interesting that the RTX 3080 TUF has better noise-normalized thermals than the RTX 3070 Strix even at a 64W higher power target. Is it due to die size difference, hence a larger surface area for the 3080 to dissipate heat from? You'd think that a Strix would perform better than a TUF, especially one with a lower power target. The cooling solution looks pretty similar between the 3070/3080 Strixes.

I already did some looking in to Turing when I got my 2080ti back in 2018, but I would like to see an in depth look on how the 2000 and 3000 series cards scale with regards to power limit. From what I can tell running most games at over 80% power limit yields very little additional performance while costing a huge load of more power draw.

Thanks for covering this, even if it doesn't seem important. A 50 usd difference often turns into a 150 Cad difference, so I appreciate the reviews of lower end stuff. As it stands right now, at my local Best Buy, an RTX 3090 is 2000 and RTX 3080's go for 1000. The 3070 just showerd up and it's 700+ ... and of course none are available ;)

When AMD cards and CPUs are all out I want to see a comparison of energy saved over 40 hours of gaming with all combinations. I hypothesize that over 1 year of time gaming 40 hours per week a person would save enough to make it a variable to consider. Depending energy prices in your location I imagine this could go upwards of 50.00

Great vid! Are the G6 non X modules ECC on the 3070s too? Just curious. I always kinda think of these non flagship Strix cards in comparison to other high end cards like 3080-3090 Strix or others as that puts the price in context a bit more, but yeah a lower end 3080 makes sense since there are great coolers close to MSRP.

In the future, can you add a legend to the heatplate pressure maps? Would be useful to know how colors correspond to what values, as well as address other questions (e.g. do colors map to the same specific values across different pressure maps, are they relative values between max and min for the current map, etc)

I ordered this card but I am waiting for the EVGA queue to reach me before cancelling. The price is steep and I feel myself wishing I could go for the 3080 instead of paying for this card. Hopefully EVGA sends me my email soon so I can cancel this order and one of you guys can get it on Amazon.

I was able to overclock to just:
+75 GPU ( 2060 MHz)
+1150 Memory (8150 MHz)
On the EVGA Black RTX 3070 with power limit maxed
Ultimately I settled on an underclock which cut power to 75% TDP
1845 MHz at 868mV
+1150 Memory (8150 MHz)
