NVIDIA Indefinitely Postpones RTX 3080 Ti, Launches RTX 3060 GPU Specs, Ampere Laptops

NVIDIA's RTX 3060 GPU was announced, including detailing of the specs, price, and release date. The RTX 3080 Ti and Super refreshes, however, have been postponed pending supply. NVIDIA primarily announced its RTX 3060 GPU, specs, and price, and release date. The NVIDIA Ampere laptops and updated Max-Q specs were posted as well, moving laptops to the RTX 30 series and coinciding with Intel and AMD mobile CPU updates. NVIDIA spent a bit of time talking about RTX and Reflex, presumably because they'd fire someone if not, but was otherwise focused on components.

Seeing how there are content creators out there that have been telling people since September that 10GB is not enough for 4k gaming and 8GB is not enough for 1440p gaming, I feel for those who pay close to 400 if not over 400 for an RTX 3060 because, It Has 12GB of VRAM It Must Be Better Than The RTX 3060Ti and even RTX 3070.
Judging by even the comments on this video people seem to not understand back during the 400 to even 900 series the bottleneck was the slower GDDR5 speeds that was overcome by adding more VRAM buffer.
Assuming the RTX 3060 was going to have 8GB and not 6GB of VRAM we could have had a sub 300, likely 280 GPU like with the GTX 1060.

I don't really need to upgrade from my 1070 that's now worth more than what I paid even now which I find hilarious.
3060 is about equal to a 1080ti isn't it? Obviously ray tracing nonsense out the question, I don't care about that, the 3060 is still not that great a jump for me personally so I'll just wait until everyone gets this PCI express change and resize bus size talk actually standardized and in use as I'll pretty much need a full new build at that point anyway, maybe there will be stock at retail prices by then, who knows.

Glad they didn't release another 6 GB card. Even 8 GB is getting...paltry. I run out of VRAM pretty regularly these days (rtx 2080). Hell even without a game running I'm using like 1.5 GB of VRAM right now just from hardware accelerated applications. We desperately need more intelligent memory allocation for our GPUs, cause right now I just want to throw capacity at the problem so I don't get performance issues from over allocation (which happens a whole lot for me unless I make sure I close browsers, spotify, other launchers, etc).

Data scientists want more capacity, and it's too bad that nvidia holds the crown there. By the time everything is back in stock, the 4080 will be out with an RRP of 2,500. Gaming cards seem to be closing the gap on workstation cards (real prices...not rrp or out of stock cards). Fingers are crossed for a less tease-filled 2021, and maybe a few public announcements of video card scalpers (with addresses). :) Thanks for your meticulous criticisms....you're one of the few trusted reviewers out there for hardware truths.

Considering how small the performance delta is between the 3080 and 3090 ( 7% in some cases!!!), my bet is that nVidia's tests showed a GPU that is almost indistinguishable from the 3080 and would be laughed at by reviewers upon release, especially for a reported 300 dollar price hike.
My bet? We don't see a 3080 Ti at all. We'll get a Super refresh this Summer with 5% better performance at a similar price point, and they will lead with the 4080 Ti like they did with the 2080 Ti in early 2022.

Rofl, the 3080Ti is the card everybody is waiting for. Guess I'll wait for the 40 series then. Not much point buying it when it's 9 months down from the generation release - the card clearly should have existed on day one - it's more important than the 3080 and 3090 because it sits in the sweet spot. 3060 has no purpose for existing and Nvidia need to get a grip or AMD will do to them what they've done to Intel.

12 GB on the 3060, and the 3060 Ti is MUCH closer to the 3070 at 100 less, whilst the 3060 is significantly cut down and only 70 cheaper. I get that the cost of the memory is what makes it relatively worse value than the 3060 Ti, but it's just plain wrong that the 3060 has 4GB more memory than the 3070 whilst being less capable. Really, I don't understand why NVIDIA cheaps out on the memory bus; why 192-bit?

Feels like we will be waiting indefinitely for GPUs to be available. I made the horrible mistake of deciding to build a new PC a few months ago. Finally got a 5950X, but am now waiting on the GPU. I think this is going to be the lost generation of GPUs. Maybe a couple 100,000 people got one (based on steam surveys), everyone else may be skipping until the next series of cards.

Lol...non existent gpus announced....gpus launched with zero stock...and my two year old gpu selling for more than l paid for it two years back. This is the death of pc gaming. A long time pc builder now given up for a while tillthis insanity ends. Off to get a console for half the price of 3080....l will watch everyone waste their money till a decent priced gpu is released.
