NVIDIA just announced the new GeForce RTX 4090, RTX 4080 16GB, and RTX 4080 12GB. The new cards use the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture and are priced at 900 for the 4080 12GB, 1200 for the RTX 4080 16GB, and 1600 for the RTX 4090 24GB cards. In this video, we also talk about the specs - like CUDA core count, RT (ray tracing) performance expectations, power utilization and consumption targets, and memory bandwidth. NVIDIA additionally announced DLSS 3, which is a major step revision over DLSS 2 and could have wider-reaching implications outside of just the GPU space (and could impact CPU bottlenecked scenarios as well). We also briefly talk about some of the architectural changes, but we ll leave most of those until after NVIDIA s architectural briefing with the press.

The 3-Unncessary series now proceeded by the ultra-4-unncessary series when we really need better and cheaper monitor tech anyway if we were to utilize these, in a way like, a mainly standard 144hz monitor which most people ues, or even slightly better ones, would be the limiting factor even if you did start running somethingat like 500 fps. You would always need ULMB technology, lightboost, or similar to achieve some better hz, and would always need higher HZ and better monitor to perceive a big difference. I find from experience too many people who have 3XXX series cards suffer more problems which are easily fixed, but they report as if it's the devs fault or some game's fault, like they bsod or they are going slow for some reason usually just incompatibility, or easily fixed issue. Imo they should just wait like 2-3 more years at least then release something significantly better anyway. I'm astounded if anyone buys these gimmocks.

The long and the short is that the AD103 based 4080 12GB has just been renamed from the 4070 with 20% less shaders than the 4080 16GB
Speaking of witch, the 80 class has gone from 699 to 1199
And the 90 has only gone up by 100.
Also note worthy, in many of the comparisons between the 4090, 4080 16GB and the 3090, DLSS3.0 was used but only on the 40 series cards as per Nvidia's website says it is only supported on the 40 seriess.
Does this mean that DLSS2.0 was used on the 3090? or was it disabled all together. We'll have to wait for testing.
One thing is for sure, Nvidia likely will have the efficiency win over AMD assuming they're both on the same node, I thought the RTX 4090 at least would be on TSMC 4n+ granting it an easy efficiency win but it appears to be on the same 5nm node that AMD 7000 series leaving it up to benchmarks to figure out.

I have a evga 3060 so im good for a few years but stg if nvidia keeps on being monopoly hungry its time to move on from nvidia bc of these crazy ass prices. Im sure yall know nvidia is trying to minimize 3rd party competition so they can control the market and set the prices at whatever they want. bad move. AMD going to be the new move? Literally the best time to introduce banger competition and persuade nvidia to lower its out of pocket prices. Also like every one is saying that 12gb 4080 is literally a 4070, idek how giving it a 4080 title is acceptable, just another excuse to raise its price.

Considering that Nvidia basically said screw you to gamers in 2020 & 2021 by selling over 170 million worth of 30 series to miners while gamers were desperately trying to get cards.. and now this.
I truly hope Nvidia falls flat on their face. They basically just spit in the face of gamers for the second time in 3 years. After 15 years of supporting Nvidia, I think I may jump over to the RDNA 3 once it's announced regardless of the cost. I've been holding out on a new 30 series card for five months now because of anticipation of the 4080 being decently priced. What a total waste.

I honestly don't understand why Nvidia decided to unveil the RTX 40 today if the GPU itself ist going to be available in November...
Not only it allows AMD now to make almost last minute adjustments to voltage and frequences to adjust for the performance of RTX 40 since we know the amount of cuda cores and their frequences, but since there aren't price cuts on older cards it doesn't really allow the board partners to sell those higher end 30 series cards cause the 40 series is behind the corner, got announced and we know prices and roughly its performance.

its the ppl who caused the high demand on gpu's and boosted nvidia's greed, if only every1 would stop paying for these absurd unnecessary highly priced gpu's and actually buy whats sufficient and ENOUGH for their games, this wouldnt have happened today.. like why would anyone support them by buying their obnoxiously priced gpu when a card like 3060 ti or 3070 is more than enough for ur gaming needs? these consumers have set the bar unnecessarily high and now we get to suffer these 1600 price tags ffs. whats next ? 4050 at 699?

Getting a sneaking suspicion that 4080 12gb was supposed to be 4070 but Nvidia knew they'e be eviscerated for pushing the MSRP so high so they renamed it. C'mon now, the 4080 16gb has 26% more cores and 33% more RAM, that's a massive difference. And the 4080 12gb has just 47% as many cores as the 4090, while the 3070 has 56% as many cores as the 3090. I know cores alone are not a performance barometer but forgive me for feeling some 1060 3gb deja vu.

12gb is not enough going forward for new games. So, 16b is the model to buy and it costs 1200USD!
That's insane.
Even a 3080 should have been a 16gb to begin with and 3070 12gb, 3060 10gb.
Even a 1070 was 8gb in 2016 and 7 years on, we will have 3070 8gb selling in 2023??
Unbelievable Nvidia greed.
I refuse to buy any GPU above 500 USD. I will wait until a 3080 or a 4080 is 500 USD.
I can play older games until then, no problem.

People are complaining about nvidia but gamers are the problem. No gamer needs a 4090 or even a 3080 to play any game currently on the market. Unless your job involves editing software then you really don't need these. I'm still running my 1080 for gaming and I've yet to see a reason to change it. When it fails or a game actually requires more power then I will. Consumers are the ones giving Nvidia their money and enabling the greed that follows.

I feel like GPU's have outpaced requirements for gaming by like a mile. I'm still using a 1070 and I'm playing Elden Ring at 4K 60fps without a care in the world. VR is definitely a struggle but I feel like I could get a 2080 Ti and be good to go. I'm a pretty casual gamer at this point in my life but like, I just don't see the value in getting the latest and greatest GPU anymore.

Not happy to see a shrunken memory interface on the 4080 (12GB). As there now is a big gap in cuda core count the 90 finally makes sense. A 4080(16GB) with only half the cuda cores of the 4090 makes no sense for 1200 . Why so pricey? 400 will bring you onto a completely different performance level. They should have skiped the 12GB model in first hand, providing a 4080(16GB) for 999.

If anybody expects those GPU s to be selling at those prices is wild. There aren t even any games worth running on this hardware other then like cyberpunk tbh. Or if you re one of the like 50 people that is ray tracing at 4k GPU mining is currently completely dead. Will probably come back in the future, but for now miners aren t buying anything. So good luck selling those prices.

I think EVGA made a really bad move. The people who want NVIDIA cards are just gonna buy them from somewhere else and now they ve lost their claim to the market. They lost advertising from NVIDIA, space at expos and GPU events, and a large part of their revenue. I can t imagine how bad the relationships must ve actually been for them to seemingly handicap their business on purpose.

so.. a disguised 4080 12GB that is indeed a 4070 but they called it 4080 to justify a price so high i am sure it will reach around 1000 euros in EU!
yeah... NOPE! no TY NVIDIA! you seem APPLE by now ..and not gonna fall on your tricks!
gonna wait for AMD to shown their new guns! then i'm gonna decide! can't wait for the BENCHMARKS on the RX 7000's!

14:06 if DLSS 3 actually works well, I imagine high end TV manufacturers might be interested in Nvidia's tech to enhance frame interpellation in their TVs. Even for users who don't typically use interpellation, I think DLSS 3 may have the potential to reduce the judder seen in slow pans with sample-and-hold displays while avoiding soap opera effect
