Pathetic: Intel Core i9-11900K CPU Review & Benchmarks: Gaming, Power, Production

The Intel Core i9-11900K is a pathetic, embarrassing CPU that underperforms versus Intel's own 10900K. The 11600K is worthy of attention as a good value, but not the 11900K. The Intel Core i9-11900K CPU is a rough one. This CPU, like the 11700K, is hard to justify -- but it's often even harder to justify than the i7-11700K, because at least that one is cheaper. The 11900K ends up with fewer cores than the 10900K, and although cores aren't everything, these architectures don't change enough to make it an insignificant loss. The 11900K dropping two cores does hurt its performance, particularly in production applications, and that relegates the CPU almost exclusively to gaming -- but even that's rough, especially versus the AMD R9 5900X, AMD R7 5800X, and Intel's new i5-11600K (and old 19-10900K).

Fst, love your HW unavailable shirt - I'll wear it in an upcoming video...
Now, it seems to me exactly as the P4 vs Athlon64 of way back when... Intel got asleep at the wheel and launched something that sounded good (ehem... Pentium D) but was nowhere competitive - only difference is that today you've got the net(burst?) and people actually tell you about it... Intel is like a big ship, it moves slowly (and get's stuck in the sand now and then) but once it's changed direction it's able to do so full throttle and, tackle the core (2 duo) issues and launch s'thing great
Nothing against AMD, in fact I'm very happy they exist - they're the only ones that can keep Intel on it's toes and keep the industry from stagnation. All hail Ryzen and eagerly awaiting Alder Lake with it's frugal Atom cores (and yeah, fst post-Skylake core arch for desktop) eeking every last frame against Zen4
The future is bright and don't wait for MSRP GPUs, the gfx of RL are way better...

the problem that intel has right now is they CAN charge these higher prices because system integrators have signed contracts probably multi-year contracts stating they will get a Smoll discount at the expensive of agreeing not to put AMD chips in their system! woops. that was a mistake. because now AMD offers higher performance at much lower costs. intel doesn't care. they can sell there chips at whatever cost is fair and sticking to there guns making there flagships cost WAY more than they perform, nets them more than enough to even care what sells or doesn't for the BYOPC community. when these contracts start expiring and these SIs don't sign up for new ones because people are building or buying AMD systems, and sales start to drop off like a rock. maybe than they will learn their mistake.

::Gray Kitty - kicks the sand over the i9-11900K like he's burying his poop.:: First you had the Pentiums and then came the i3's, then the i5's and i7's... Where the i7's where the cream of the crop. Least we forget the server sided Xeon's. Now you have all that and the i9's... Now you got a i5 that's about as good as the i9 flagship... Too much diversity... It's like there's one person in charge of each series... And they all don't know what the others are doing; nor care what they others are doing. It'd be an interesting analysis to discover which CPU's actually sell to which markets, combined with how many CPU's get unsold... I would guess that a great many don't get sold... Same with motherboards too... Silly waste of sand lol

I knew It lol. You will pay 150 more than 10900k and asus and msi will triple the price of there high end motherboard so now your paying 2k for a high end cpu and motherboard just so your new Samsung x4 gen 4 7gbs will work at full speed. Then in the next 12 to 18 or maybe 24 months the new 12900k or 13900f with 10 nanometers ddr5 and dual gen 4 x4 nvme slots 24 cpu lanes and all of your last gen shit wont work. Lol..... Intel i have the new cpu name for you the i9 wejustfedyouanddontcare fu-k. I wont charge you intel you can have the name...

You know... I expected nothing special out of Rocket Lake... I expected something decent, something that will offer a slightest slight upgrades vs the 10th gen, only so I can have the reason to get those 20 PCI-E lanes and run an NVME directly to the cpu but after watching countless reviews and looking at just how much of a hot trash of chip 11900K is compared to 10900K... I am really disappointed. I LITERALLY expected nothing and yet I am still disappointed.

The 11900K is the new RTX 3090. ...... Wait a minute. Oh it almost fooled me, the 3090 beats every other card of theirs in performance. The 11900K beats all their and AMD CPUs... in having the highest number for its name. Intel has been planning this. telling people to not look at benchmarks then showing benchmarks just to confuse people. So when they finally released 11000 series they can say the only thing that matters is who has the bigger name. Buhahahahahahaha!

I have been an Intel fan for around 25 years of my life, but i have to admit that Intel is light years behind AMD for many years now.
I am using a Ryzen 1st generation currently and I'm loving it for its price to performance.
Intel's 8th and 9th Gen were pushing the limits of 14mn. And I guess that 10th Gen was the limit. The 11th Gen is just a product of poor management at the top.
Lets hope Pat Gelsinger can restore Intel back to its former glory.

Intel will only be the parasite, for as long as they're pushing out the remnants of Swans Architectures. In a few years, once we start seeing the fruits under Pats direction. Hopefully they will start being able to catch back up to AMD. Instead of competing with their own older products. Then we can start to see some real development and competition from both parties again. Not to mention ARM quickly picking up the slack.

But But, you are testing it wrong, it would perform better with Intel TEC cooler, allcore boost overwrite, unlimited TAU and AVX load.
With that specific setup the 11900k could maybe be better then the 10900k.
I think i will just stick to AM4 and dump a 3900x into my first gen motherboard and beat the 11900k in rendering performance anyway.

Someone please find the internal documents from when this product design was greenlit, I hope they can be analysed to find some traces of ash from whatever the hell they were smoking
Let's put big hot and hungry AVX512 logic units in a processor that's going to already be big hot and hungry because we really designed it for 10nm...
