This game is not poorly optimised, i mean what do you think the settings are for? It lets you optimise it yourself, to your own hardware. I have a 3700x and 1700 and will have no problem getting this to about 40fps at 2k on high/ultra, got AC to that as well. I could run this at 4k 30fps as well with the 1070, and have better looking game than a PSpro at 30fps. If i want 60fps, i could do 1080p, and with my 1070 being better than a Pro, i can get better quality, and have it on my SSD as well, to save loading times. The issue is the GPU's are not keeping up with the quality of games they could release, take the original Watchdogs, Witcher 3 or even Anthem to show what is possible. Right now, the GPU's on the market stop us getting to those heights.

This is definitely the most gorgeously looking game I have ever seen. Whatever settings are you guys using, turn tree tessellation off. It consumes A LOT of gpu resources. It's not even worth it. And also try putting lighing effects at Ultra if possible. It takes a lot of performance, but the difference in graphics is HUGE. Do not use MSAA, unless you want to apply it to reflections (x2 is enough. TAA is good enough. Running almost everything at Ultra with RX 5700 XT + I5 8400 and managed to get between 60 and 75 fps depending on the area and time of day (buisy towns at night are the most demanding zones of the game, because there is so much lighting effects and reflections going on.

Hardly any performance gains from hardware in years, and now this port that looks and runs like shit. You could start by cutting all gaming hardware and software prices in half. Once the gaming industry starts showing up for work is when I will pay for that nonsense. Do what you want, plenty of sheep to keep this all in business, so if you were a sucker to buy expensive hardware, pirate it. Really don't know what to say when a company has the best potential and squanders every single bit of it. PC is the high-end market and every AAA title like this looks like a port from last gen consoles. When do they all plateau into all being 2k sports games?

Lets be clear. Rockstar has already come out and said that the issues people are having are because of OPTIMIZATION problems on their end, and NOT the hardware you happen to be running. They are working on patches and hotfixes that will allow even a 2070 and ryzen 5 3600 to play at 4k max settings and 60 fps. Just wait a week or so and it will be running smoothly. I advise anyone else who is curious to check out JayzTwoCents where he explains what the ACTUAL STAFF at Rockstar told him directly concerning the graphical issues.

Those FPS numbers are shocking. I'm using a 1070Ti for 1440p/144hz gaming but it looks like it'll barely scrape past 60 on anything but potato graphics. That's before you even look at the 1%'s which are around half that so it's gonna be stuttery as well. With the launch bugs, micro-transactions/pre order bonuses/season pass and performance issues I think I'm gonna pass on this which is a shame because I loved the first game. I don't buy AAA games anymore because this is a repeated theme.

Ugh my rdr2 of version won't run well on my PC and I have a 1080. It's not the best card in the world, but still runs most games good. But rdr2 is just having issues with this card. And I had already looked it up if rdr2 works with 1080 I'm supposed to get a solid 1080p with a good frame rate. Well, I just can't get it to work. And I was excited to try after playing this on the one x where it already looked good. .but my card can run AC: Oddysey and Witcher 3 at great settings.

I suggest you guys to include in your benchmark at least a few GPUs people actually use. NONE of the 6 most popular video cards are featured in this video! I'm taking my data from the last STEAM survey on October 2019: GTX 1060 - 14. 44% + GTX 1050 Ti - 9. 66% + GTX 1050 - 5. 39% + GTX 1070 - 4. 35% - GTX 1080 - 2. 58% - GTX 750 Ti - 2. 52% + In comparaison, the AMD Radeon R9 380 Series only represents 0. 24% of players, the RTX 2080 Ti, 0. 54%.

I know it's end of life but it would have been nice to see the Radeon Vii in these charts. Right now I mainly play at 1440p in Rdr2 and today on black Friday the XFX Radeon Vii is only 499 new on Amazon and I was really considering buying it at that price. Though right now with my 1080 ti fe I Probaly should just wait a few months to see what comes out. But 499 is a great price for a Radeon Vii.

Gamers Nexus. Installed RDR2 on SSD. at launch ran fine for about 4h's After that it crashed when loading the savegame. Tried to delete all my savegames, but to no luck. Moved to an nVme SSD. still no luck. Uninstalled Game, Launcher and social club. Reinstalled all. Still no luck. Finally moved the install to a mechanical drive, have been working flawlessly ever since. Is RDR2 a SSD killer?

! IMPORTANT! On AMD GPU's, tweaking the RDR2 config file and setting EnableAsyncCompute to True when running Vulkan solves the problem with highly variable frame times, and DX12/Vulkan will run nearly identically on AMD GPU's. (Possibly true for Turing as well, but slightly hurts Pascals performance due to the architectures lack of true hardware level async compute)
