Works fine on my no longer supported Apple phone. Even tried it on a android os phone that is not a google brand phone, and it also works fine. Received the Google pin in my receipt that was emailed to me. There are free games on the system as well as paid games on the system. Most consoles sell for more than 300 and the games cost up to about 60 as do the games on Stadia. I receive very little to no lag. Of course nothing beats a truly good gaming pc as far as speed, lag, and graphics. But they cost a lot of money, and you don t get some of the console games. However some console games are exclusive to a specific console, and I doubt that will change anytime soon. This is simply one step towards the use of games through multiple platforms without having to buy multiple copies of the game.

What people want: 20/mo to play any game on any screen. What Google promised: 130 for founder's, 10/mo for service, and 60 for the games. What I would need to get Stadia: 130 for Founder's Edition, 500 for a Pixel cell phone, 150/mo for Internet able to PLAY Stadia, 60 for inferior versions of games I already own, and another month and a half waiting for the activation key. My recommended alternative: Spend that 750 to build a gaming PC and then follow the Steam sales for a little while. Viable Alternative: Buy a last gen console for 250 and spend the rest on a substantial library of games. Granted, I already own a gaming PC and over a hundred Steam games, making Stadia an even less rational investment.

The fact that you buy games on Stadia instead of renting them for an extremely reduced cost (maybe 10 for a month per game) is staggering. Is it really buying games if you literally cannot play it anymore if the service goes away? I know the comparison with Steam is inevitable, but there are some key differences. If Steam disappeared tomorrow, I would still have back-up copies of my games on my pc that I could play that would hopefully become cracked and remain available either legitimately (from Valve) or otherwise (community made crack. If Stadia goes away, poof, all traces of your game is lost forever.

youre incorrect about how Chromecast works. it doesnt just stream video output from other devices, it does in fact have its own internal operating system, anything casted to the device runs natively, and streams independently on that hardware. it does indeed run stadia internally. you can also stream from another device as a second monitor, if you want. but otherwise, it is running natively, and your other devices are just acting as a remote control and an off-screen interface to select content. it is definitely not just an HDMI cable. Chromecast itself does have a lot of value as a streaming device.

OK, so it means that people who don't own a smartphone, don't have a Gmail account and don't want to use Google Chrome can't even get this thing working? I don't think Google understands what gaming consoles are for lol. They are for people who want to play games without fuss (nowadays you obviously need to set up the internet connection and make an account too, but they can be done on the devices themselves. If you need to set up that many things on different devices to get a gaming console working, you might as well be gaming on a PC.

This has to be the most astronomical failure of a game system within the history of modern gaming. Its almost unreal just how many issues, oversights and design failures are apparent quite literally from the moment you open the box and try to do, well, anything. This is going to be the textbook example of how NOT to design and distribute a video gaming platform/service (if you can even call it that. Even more insane is that all of the above is in a world where the gizmondo and the Virtual Boy exist!

I'm not gonna lie, I bought my Stadia JUST out of sheer curiosity for how well it would run and quite honestly I'm not too disappointed. The initial setup was a bit wonky (and yea they're harvesting your data but honestly they've been doing this for years) but that aside I like the concept and think it's a good solution for anyone who can't afford a console or gaming rig. That being said I love your videos and how absolutely savage you are, 4: 59 was my favorite part lmao

Imagine the total access this potentially skynet system is going to have to every bloody thing you own. Now it's to a game, then it morphs to system used to diagnose your psychological gaming behaviour pattern, next it's used to know your location, track so-called Terrorist, Criminal, mass shooters, to targeting ads/propagandas to voters, then use for Census, to know the number of Gun owners etc. But yet, the US Govt. is saying Huawei is spying on Americans - SMFH.

They did it this way so noone can share their account, you login somewhere else and it takes over your session. You can't have multiple sessions on one account even if you don't want to take over another session. You can't play one game on your pc and another on your tv at the same time. Netflix is so popular because you can just share accounts/have them on multiple devices at once for one low price. This is never going to cut it

You said that it is up to Steam to use the Stadia controller as a gamepad. This is incorrect. Gamepads are only sometimes handled by Steam, and even then, usually they go through another abstraction layer, such as xinput. To clarify: Google definitely could have built their controller in such a way that it presented itself as an xinput controller when plugged into a PC, no matter if Steam is installed or not.
