AMD's New 230 Ryzen 5 7600 CPU Review & Benchmarks (ft. PBO)

AMD's new Ryzen 5 CPU is a 7600 non-X, which is cheaper than the 7600X, lower power, and basically has Eco Mode pre-applied. It gets most the performance of the 7600X, but for a lower cost. The closest competition is AMD's own 7600X, then Intel's 12600K, and on the higher side, the 13600K (but that's closer to the R7 7700 in price). We have two separate reviews coming up for the R7 7700 and R9 7900. Testing includes comparisons with PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) on the 7600, making it similar to the 7600X. Bleack: So it looks like the difference between the x and non-x is none or around 5%...so what's the point of the x when it's far more expensive? And I mean this from the perspective of someone in a country that didn't see discounts in AMD CPUs.
And it also comes witha cooler, which while not amazing is going to be fine if the case has good airflow and you don't overclock, according to this video. To me that means I don't even need to spend money on a cooler, which makes the x look even weirder

I had to pause at 12:46 .... why are you mixing power consumption with heat dissipation ? I mean seriously, you are not better than AMD here ... TDP is Thermal Design Power, how much energy a cooling system needs to be able to dissipate in order to not constraint the CPU. PPT is how much electricity the CPU consumes. Of course they won't be 1:1, one is electricity consumed the other is heat produced ...
yes I know AMD screws us with their TDP forumula etc. (so does Intel), but why should YOU be worse then them ?
TDP was never about electricity consumed, those are NOT heaters where you expect electricity consumed to be as much as possible equal to heat produced .....

Allready on Intel 12th Gen. Dont have 500 for a motherboard for absolutely nearly no improvement and stability problems. I dont know why reviewers are pushing unstable products. This is because of ALL the PC's I build, I build a Ryzen for my son, and he is the only one in our family consistently having issues with certain games. The older Intel systems just runs smoothly, but slower, but more stable.

After the last few years of GPU nonsense it feels good to know I can just hang around and game with what I have now for quite some time before I need to even think about an upgrade. Even then maybe instead of spending 800+ or more for a whole new system I put that to a much better GPU at the end of this year. I'm a fat rat in a cheese factory and it feels great!

I truly think the price of the AM5 CPU has nothing to do with the poor sales. It's mostly the MB and RAM and well everything else overpriced to get an AM5 system. You can spend 50% on an AM4 system and get 90%+ of the performance. Once the MB and RAM come down in price to something reasonable they will start selling AM5 CPU at record numbers. It's that simple.

The motherboard prices are too crazy. I picked up a 3600x and b450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC board for around 500 bucks Canadian when I fat fingered my Z290 socket. The b650 price for the same level of features I have is still closer to 400 dollars. AMD can release cheap CPUs all they want, if there's no decently featured boards to put them in, it doesn't matter.

Biggest problem is the current price for mainboards. I mean back when I bought a new CPU for like 250 you still only had to pay around 80 for a decent motherboard.
Currently you can only expect double the price for the same spec motherboard and pretty expensive DDR5 RAM. So AM4 is still a better pick sometimes.

why are reviewers punishing intel by not talking about the 13400f? i could have gotten one almost a week ago, given its almost the same price i feel like its bad on consumers for you not to compare the 13400. and what ever grudge reviewers have against intel just hurts the people youre trying to serve in the end

Hi GN - long-time viewer, never commenter. I know you value feedback and read comments: I found the new set background distracting. The moving/sharp transitions of the monitors distracted me. I prefer to be able to focus on the speaker. I think the new set can still work, but consider putting more static images up.

230 CPU + 100-150 Board now that is an appealing package! And just what I need tbh I want to get rid of my junk Asrock B450 Board and upgrade from my Ryzen 3600.
Only problem is there are no affordable AM5 boards and if they dont make any in the near future ill stay on AM5. (B550 Board + 5700X then).

Can you test new topic of ps5 vertical position do cause liquid metal flow. Plz test to deep. I want proper results from you. I have a ps5 holding vertically i cant to do place to horizontally because don't have more space on my table. Plz deep test and give proper results.

ok so, either get 5800x3d with am4 board thats cheaper than x670 or b650....... and cheaper ddr4.... ok. i will wait a few more generations. i usually only upgrade upon the 100% improvement mark. so basically i7 8700k or ryzen ryzen 2600 users should upgrade. got it.

All the companies do it - it is called clear out the suckers and then move on to selling to the more sensible population . I am guilty on jumping on the new stuff as much as anyone else and find that most items are 100 dollars cheaper a year later . LoL !!

Amazing to see how far 6 core CPUs have come along. Ultimately, the 7600 should be 210 maximum or they should never have made it. TBH I think they probably made the 7600 to sell 7600x's . Seems like a marketing sham. idk
