Newegg has a new ChatGPT style PC building AI that can take chat prompt inputs and convert them into PC build lists. We're going to test how well it can design different types of computers, like gaming PCs, editing workstations, and more. Newegg has an inherent bias to sell parts, but even with that aside, we expect the PC builder 'AI' to at least deliver on the marketing of configuring a compatible list of at least quasi-competent parts. The tool is new and may not be fully trained yet, but with the help of chat, we're going to train it!

This isn't something that needed AI. All we needed was a small team actually managing the part pickers, people who actually know what they are doing and add flags for parts that aren't compatible. This is something an AI will constantly fail at, people will end up with RAM that straight up doesn't work with their mobos, just watch. You're also going to see a lot of cooler/ram incompatabilities pushed by any AI.

It is either a outright lie with AI label to get in on the current trend, since it is a regular 2010 chatbot you always see (and ignore) on shop sites. Or the sophisticated neural network part comes when it calculates profit margin based on storage volumes, biometric data from your camera and microphone, and all the data purchased from data collection companies.

Gimmicky nonsense. Reminds me of old chatbot AI from like 2012. It had specific topics it would always cycle back around to focusing on pretty much no matter what prompt you gave it. A randomizer is a much better tool. A link to PC builders tiered build list would be more useful.

How did you feel about the actual functionality of this thing? Is Newegg trying to actually put in effort and make a real tool or is this just a marketing gimmick to grab the current trend? What do you want to see us try next in a stream?

I love it .. make a voice or a person not to ask if they want to talk to a real person but more like tips and tricks we all KNOW.. that are within the confines of the business model.

Trolls just be trollin. Ignore the peanut gallery. Loved the motherboard rant. Genuine content is appreciated. When you see crap, please keep calling it out. Thanks :)

No ivory is not illegal. Elephant and rhino horns are illegal, but things like mammoth tusks and elk teeth are completely legal to have and own.

haven't watched yet, but I'm guessing the 'AI' behind this is about as advanced as picked item A therefore recommend item B canned responses

Idk what newegg used, but I've built many Power Virtual Agents that utilize NLP (AI). They're still really only as good as you build them.
