RX 9070 Driver issues... :(
Old monitor (Some kind of LG ultra gear 1440p 165hz monitor) works fine, but I got a PG27FFX1B (1080p 520Hz) bundled with my ASRock Steel Legend RX 9070 XT...
Display Port Defaults to 768p or something, black screen AFTER boot until I turn the monitor off for a bit and turn it back on, or maybe if I log in while the screen is black.
HDMI Microsoft Basic Display Driver.
Either one of those combined with having another monitor connected Black screen on (after) boot until one or the other of those monitors is unplugged from the GPU.
And under any of those circumstances it doesn't even display anything above 60Hz as an option.
Did the expected steps of DDU and re-installing drivers - nothing - though with Display Port in Safe Mode it did display at 1080 instead of 768.
While trying to look into it I came across some Reddit posts from other users with similar users - probably not even specifically with the same monitor, but I imagine that is a possibility.
Unfortunately the 9070 XT is so new that it still only seems to have the one driver out so far, there's no Previous Version to check compatibility with.
I'm almost starting to expect maybe the monitor itself is just a dud or something, but considering other people seem to have had similar problems I have to assume the RX 9070 XT('s driver) is more likely the cause.

4:56 I think a new performance metric X, that could be multiplied with the price for an available GPU, by the viewer, would be a good value indicator. So for instance, if X was 0.8 for an RTX 5070 (at 650$) and 0.9 for a RX 9070 (at 830$), the 5070 would rank at 520 and the 9070 at 747. Not only could the viewer then directly compare the price to performance ratio of the exact models they're considering to purchase, but you could also include different ranges in the video, where you'd consider purchasing the card.
Simplifying the performance to a single value is difficult and I wouldn't include metrics like noise and thermals, as those will vary by partner model, but just rasterisation performance should do a decent enough job. I'd however include a statement that the metric isn't perfect and doesn't factor in everything, especially when comparing two different partner models of the same GPU, as well as other factors such as additional features.
Alternatively, you could do what Hardware unboxed did for the 9070/XT launch and just film/release a separate video for every possible GPU price :)

So I just recently got my 15th anniversary signed mod mat and I was just wondering if there’s any particular method to speed up the process of getting it flattened out (Due to having been rolled up during packing/shipping). I’ve had it lying completely flat on the surface of a table for a few days (with heavy objects placed on the ends), but it still has a bit of retention in the corners/sides in terms of wanting to curve upwards.
Also, I’d like to comment on the overall quality of the mod mat itself. It’s exceptionally well made and I really love the included diagrams and measurements. They really help with being able to double check certain things, as well as other useful tidbits that I personally didn’t know about beforehand. Y’all really did an amazing job on these. Oh, and my initials also happen to be S.B., which is how Steve signed the mod mat. So I thought that was pretty cool lol. [insert Intel spokesperson here] Thanks Steve!

You missed something specific about the intel and intel foundry story -- They are operating both arms of intel (the umbrella name), the chip designer/tech side, and the foundry side, as independent companies.
Intel, the chip designer, WANTS the intel foundry to be as best as it can be, and is separate from the foundry in terms of business structure -- so they have to put in provisions for chip bids -- with some priority.
They want to try and exert pressure on the foundry team to win their business, instead of well, we won't need to stress/compete as hard, as we have guaranteed orders from our other intel team.
That's what they are avoiding.
It's also good to not have all your eggs in one basket unless you REALLY have nailed down your process -- and intel hasn't -- hence the push to set up a stronger intel fab
It's a good strategy imho

Steve you simply make your own fantasy currency called GN Value. For example, if a 4070 has a GN Value of 1.00, then a 4090 would have a GN Value of (1.00/0.55) based on the 4070 offering about 55% of the 4090 performance. How you adjust for generation and vendor is up to you, but our aussie friends at HUB sometimes discuss value and they typically assume that an AMD card of equal raster to an Nvidia product commands about 0.9 of the value based on the feature set and RT differences. This is of course, very subjective, but it generally aligns with the market picture of a 7800XT vs 4070 or a 6700XT vs 3060 and so on. Everything becomes a ratio currency conversion or % offset to say I would only tolerate a premium of x% for a card of y% more performance or different features

A possible solution for the issue you brought up about a non currency price model for gpus could be an offshoot of what you already do for price to performance. Of course you would need a specific detail to ground the price in reality but it would be an interesting exercise. You could bring in different details such as the missing rops in the recent nvidia models as well as the insane price increases for some amd models and use those as negatives or how nvidia still maintains a lead with ray tracing over AMD as a positive. Basically would end up like a normal algebra equation with variables representing different data points and then using coefficients to mark the importance of them. Excited to see what you come up with! :D

Part of me is thinking a 2D plot with market segments (1080p / 1440p / 4K) vertically and performance (fps ish) horizontally, then put a low end card like 3050 closer to the bottom left with 5090 top right. Someone could the look up the row they have as screen, say a 1440p and then what...
The key issue is you don't just want to rank cards, you partially want to say if card X is less than Y% more expensive than card Z, then it's a better deal.... I'd almost make it an interactive widget in a website that literally changes the scores/answer based on what card you select. And then there's the whole point of cards simply having a sensible max price, like one should never buy a 9070 XT for 2000....

I cant wait to see how broke all the scalpers go as the cards don't move for 6k a card. The companies are making a pretty penny off the scalpers, but are screwing the normal people while doing it.
The playstation situation was the start of this issue and so was online vendor shops. If those are restricted access to new technology for 6 months and the only place your getting new cards and PC parts is at tech stores, we won't have these issues anymore!
As your physically buying a single card (if limited and almost all are) from another person. To add, what business is gonna be buying a 6000 dollar card at all No one would show up! That price makes even rich people stop and think about it so that approach would be dead in any way.

The 6900XT/6950XT is the best value if you want 1440p gaming. For 1080p the slightly underperforming 5700 XT is the best value. If there were 5800/5900 XT's they would probably top the performance per dollar.
This is a broken market and the fact that there aren't massive lawsuits means the legal system isn't for justice but to protect the corporations that can bribe their way out of lawsuits. On paper AMD, Nvidia and Intel are competitors, in reality they share a monopoly.

The competition phrase is probably to ensure that the Intel internal labs do not get lazy with efficiency and quality. Typically, the new product development team will pay for fab time (internal or external) as part of development costs and estimate the manufacturing cost based on this. If the Intel fab is not competitive in efficiency and process costs, then TSMC will help to lower manufacturing costs which will help to meet the new product business case. Also, what better way to keep an eye on your competitors pricing than to ask them to make something as an independent control :)

For the graphs I think something that would be super useful and honestly revealing is to see a zoomed out version after seeing the zoomed in and detailed version where you sorta show what the average person might still actually have and be using like I still run a 2080Ti and would love to know how bad it would even potentially be in terms of frames and such compared to the modern stuff because as someone who doesn't care as much for the highest FPS I still feel like my computer is doing just fine many years later.

Similar to a price to performance chart, it would also be nice to have some data on CPU scaling. The recent Hardware Canuks video on how the 5800X3D is still relevant at 4K was super enlightening. When I built my first PC, the big question I had was what was the cheapest CPU I could get that wouldn't bottleneck my GPU when it came to parts selection. It could also be useful for people upgrading to say With my current CPU, what would be an effective GPU upgrade that doesn't leave performance on the table

However; I would have a MUCH easier time buying it if you actually did a review on it!
It's very clear that you only accept sponsorship from companies which you trust and know to be reputable; but it almost seems disingenuous to push a product so hard without saying: we've put it through our own tests, see it here for yourself!!!

They can have the flexibility of companies like AMD and Nvidia where they don’t vendor-lock their designs, and also invest in manufacturing capabilities as a means of cost saving for less high-end chips or becoming the high-end option for their CPU and GPUs. This is the Samsung strategy at play, except their chips might actually be the top end for once.

To determine a ratio I'd use the minimum stock available price in history (not price error), convert it to fps per dollar then check the same way for the next gen hw using its overall(or mim/max) available price not scalped, and play with numbers a bit until you figure out what a reasonable gap would look like. You could even figure out a unique score methodology taking in to account not only performance/price but efficiency but this could become a bit too much.

A bar slider for price-to-performance sounds great. I could, hypothetically, be in the store staring at two to three cards, pop up your slider page and quickly enter the cards, and the prices I see. Then it could easily spit out which is the preference, and some sort of margin of difference to let a user know if it really matters or if it's largely super close and they may as well pick their most trusted manufacturer out of the three (or the cheapest or whatever).

You Rank the Cards based on the Avarage FPS throw the most popular games right now. That shows us how good they are and we can decide what to buy based on our local price. I have never seen you try to do Most Popular Gamer right now Average FPS. I vote for Cyberpunk 2077, Helldivers 2, CS2, Monster Hunter Wilds, whatever you decide is mostly played. All games on Max Setting, 1080p, Pure Frames, no Nvidia Gimics like Phisx or Alternative like Ray Tracing.

I think what most hardware comparison sites lack is price range of parts, there are numerous posts like this graphics vs that one at this prices I found, witch is a better deal

This might be best because people are getting different things at different prices based on where they live, what day of the week it is etc. letting the user input the dollar value means you just need to rank them on overall performance and tell the user which one is best.
