Subject: Ongoing Unresolved Support Issues and Concerns Regarding Razer Laptop
Dear consumers looking at Razers,
Oh, my deep disappointment regarding multiple unresolved issues with my Razer laptop and the inadequate support I have received over an extended period. I have experienced recurring hardware failures, including battery swelling, which damaged the trackpad, keyboard malfunctions, thermal shutdowns, and overall device instability.
To provide context, I have opened multiple support cases with Razer regarding these issues. Notably:
Incident: 221128-00226
Incident: 230201-00005
Incident: 230713-00005
(Final digits omitted for privacy) There were quite a few more however mostly through chat support.
Unfortunately, I do not have records of earlier tickets from around 2020/2021, as those interactions took place via online chat, and transcripts were not saved.
I had made it clear during these interactions that I am a disabled individual, and travel to send for repairs or replacements was logistically very difficult. Despite explaining this, I was continuously asked to send the laptop in, even though the device was under warranty and the problems clearly originated from a defective battery. The support process extended over 3 years, during which my laptop progressively deteriorated the keyboard stopped functioning properly, audio failed intermittently, fans would cycle on and off, and eventually, the laptop began thermal shutting down.
The most frustrating part of this experience was the lack of consistent communication. Chat representatives indicated I would be charged for inspection despite the device being under warranty, while email representatives appeared more sympathetic though no actionable resolution was ever reached. At one point, I even offered to place a deposit for a replacement unit so I could avoid extended downtime, as I rely heavily on this device for my work. Unfortunately, that option was also dismissed, and I was told Razer could not provide a specific timeframe for repair or replacement, making it impossible to proceed under those conditions.
Due to Razer's refusal to provide a timely and effective solution, I incurred significant financial losses from missed work opportunities. I was ultimately forced to purchase a second-hand computer to continue working, as I had already spent my full budget on the original Razer device.
Even after escalating the matter to executive-level email addresses, I received no response no bounced messages, no replies which I find extremely disheartening. It gave the impression that customer concerns, even when severe and legitimate, are not taken seriously.
This entire experience has left me with the unfortunate conclusion that Razer’s customer support infrastructure does not prioritize the needs of its users, particularly those in vulnerable situations. It's especially disappointing given the supposed premium nature of their products and the expectation of reliability that comes with such an investment.
All I had ever asked was for a fair resolution a functioning product in exchange for a defective one, with minimal disruption to my livelihood. Instead, I was met with inconsistency, delays, and a lack of empathy. I hope this message keeps others from buying their products.

I have zero issues with ASUS. However, with Razer, that's another story. I once had a RGB keyboard of Razer. Once plugged in, the led's lit up in a rainbow pattern, making it very hard to see the letters even in a dark room.
Just try to see purple, dark blue or even red on a black keyboard, even when the room is dark. Then imagine it in a fully lit living room.
It was a black keyboard so only yellow light was clearly readable. To get the lights to only give yellow, I needed to install their entire 500MB software package that hooked into everything, even networking systems, sound driver, video driver and much more.
The software sometimes kept keys pushed internally, which lead to me running off cliffs and such in games at random intervals, it was frustrating. The key didn't get stuck mechanically though, the release of the key sometimes didn't register in the software.
And once I was watching a movie on Netflix and after shutting down the movie, I had a 100% loud RRRRRRR sound through my speakers and the only way to stop it, was to kill the Razer software via Task Manager, which then lead to the lights going in a rainbow pattern again.
Also the SHIFT points up, but the character it sent out was at the bottom of the key, not the top like any other keyboard has, it was reversed and very confusing.
And the light intensity at max level was not enough to see your keys during the day so you had to type blind. No Razer for me ever again.
Within 10 days of frustration, I threw it out and went back to my trusty old $10 Logitech keyboard instead of that $60 gaming RGB keyboard, where about half the world has the same issues with it after reading the reviews.

If you think Razer is high quality you are full of sht. I have their Razer Kiyo webcam and had their Razer Seiren V2 Pro microphone and let me just say not only was the software complete garbage but also the fact that I had to tweak the microphone so much on OBS just to sound coherent makes it a joke of a product compared to the Fifine Microphone that I was using. Fck Razer and fck all US billion dollar corporations. I'm happy with my logitech mouse and keyboard that has lasted me for years, my AOC 1080p HDR 180hz monitor that works great and outlasted my shtty ASUS monitor and my Lenovo Legion T5 desktop that doesn't make a sound because there's so many holes and optimal cooling in the case that I don't hear squat while gaming. Ah my anger towards these companies including Microsoft including my resentment is coming out in full force today

During the pandemic, my gf and I bought Razer laptops to game on. Hers came broken right out of the box, but we had purchased expensive Razer Care and so we expected we'd have it resolved shortly. Razer had her laptop for months, they made her cry over the phone, and the final resolution we got was a black replacement for her rose aluminum original order (with no compensation for the fact that we had to accept less than a full replacement). My gf is a strong woman who works a high-stress job and I've never seen anyone make her cry before. The hardware is great, but it has flaws that are unacceptable at the price point. As an example, my model only runs fans at max speed when plugged in, which Razer did with a BIOS update because there was an overheating issue with that model. Garbage company, don't buy from them.

From all these stories about razer and a number of other high end laptops, Seems like the moral of the story is just get a decent middle of the road laptop like an Acer Nitro series laptop or a Dell G15, with a mid-range GPU and CPU. Sure, it's only going to get you 60-90 fps at 1080p in AAA newer games and not 165hz at 4k. But it's a laptop, it's not a desktop rig.
I think the over-engineering to deal with the enormous heat plus the bleeding edge components is thst the super high end stuff just isn't very reliable. Meanwhile my old clunker Nitro 5 from 2018 with a GTX 1050 Ti is still puttering around just fine plugged into a TV acting as an HTPC and game console for my kids. I've had a number of gaming laptops over the years and it seems to be the few premium ones I had that had the most issues.

As a Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop Owner. Yes i can indeed confirm that Razer is a Terrible Company that does everything in theit power to avoid servicing a Computer when there is a problem with it. Its much worse once the warranty is officially over because even if you are willing to pay for the repair, they will still give you a hard time trying to get it fixed. For example on my Tomahawk, the cooling fans in the case randomly stop working causing the PC to over heat. They made the set up with a proprietary wire pin setup that even trying to swap the fans out to lets say Noctua etc is almost impossible unless you know what your doing which most people dont ad they use them for work, content creation and gaming. But i will NEVER buy another Razer product again after this experience.

I had issues with one of there sound bars. I built a new PC and reused the sound bar which was great and worked perfectly before. The volume got considerably lower despite the settings being all good and now I get a feedback static when my PC is off or in sleep mode. I couldn't find the drivers anywhere including Razor who's solution (I gave them the specific model, PN, Ect.) was to try changing USB ports. It doesn't use a USB port, Just a 3.5mm plug and a wall outlet plug. I also asked them to contact me in the afternoon on Eastern Standard Time. They called at 4am and had to dial twice in rapid succession to get through my do not disturb to do so. In the end I just gave up and manually turn it off at night. There customer service is non existent

Last year I decided I wanted to properly play through the BioShock series. Unfortunately the games would periodically minimize to desktop, which I spent some amount of time trying to troubleshoot before I decided to just #dealwithit and carry on.
I figured it was something graphics driver related, not playing nice with older games.
Well nah, I eventually circled back around to the problem after beating BS1 and found an random reddit comment about Synapse causing a different game to minimize.
So I closed Synapse while playing BioShock, and the problem vanished. I'm so grateful that my experience of playing all of BS1 and half of BS2 was compromised by worthless software that I barely use.

Yeah, I've had issues with Razer Synapse software. It was either their Chroma or that new Axon part of the suite they're pushing out now.
Got a Naga Pro v2 mouse, suddenly button 4 on the side buttons didn't work. All others did, uninstalled Axon/Chroma part of the software and said button worked again. It's small things like that which happens with this company from time to time. I actually also think Synapse 3 looks more stable than 4 currently.
Anyways, most weird issue I had, bar how soon their mouse buttons usually die or double click eventually and it's not really that long of a time. I'm unsure their switches are rated to the number they put out really.

Off topic, but somewhat in the realm of things. A lawyer went to a doctor's office and had to wait a few hours, although he had an appointment. According to the doctor's policy, he will charge patients if they miss their appointments or are late. The lawyer sued the doctor for his lost time (and won). It would be nice if we actually had consumer rights. That way, we could start charging these companies for every minute of OUR time that we have to spend, basically beta testing their consumer ready devices. I'm assuming many of their customers who can afford to buy the 5080/5090 models make a much higher hourly rate than Razer's employees. Edit: Added (and won)

i got my razer keyboard, mouse and headset, all working fine, until i want to set my rgb to static, so i install synapse and chroma last week, and somehow, my mouse dpi keep resetting, my game getting laggy, and sometimes when i play dota where i need to press keys as fast as possible to responds with my enemy, the input just didnt get keyed in, once i even press it multiple times, looking at the key, and it still didnt recognize it, i thought my keyboard was broken, until i saw this video 2 days ago, uninstall the synapse, and all the problem is gone, my gaming is smoother, although the rgb keep cycling =3=, but better than buggy peripherals

I bought a 2023 4080 ASUS 18inch ROG Strix. About 3 months ago I started having thermal issues and had to get it repaired at micro center for a failed VRAM fan and a complete repaste. Sadly I didn’t get the repair done in time and now the cpu and motherboard are failing. Took it back to microcenter an official ASUS repair shop and they are unable to source a new motherboard and CPU from Asus. I will never buy an Asus product again, nor will I buy a gaming laptop, I am replacing my portable gaming with a laptop with a micro ATX rig with a carrying handle for much better performance and an actual capability to repair and upgrade.

Not strictly laptop related; but I completely understand why people are turning against Razer these days. My ancient 2013 Razer Naga was the best mouse I ever owned (and made of metal, no less). The newer 2019-era-ish unit is made of plastic and was $49.99 more - and not nearly as comfortable. I was recently looking into the replacement for the 2019 mouse; and the new Naga's are, somehow, even more of a step back. There is no functional replacement for this line either; which is quite unfortunate. Same goes for the keyboards - I'm still using an ancient blackwidow v2 and not looking forward to the day it either has issues, or fails.

I am affected by this.
I have a Blade 16, with a 5080/64GB , I have the touchpad issue.
I paid around $5000 for mine.
Funny detail, While I have the track pad issue, if I manage to delete the track pad device in my device manager, then scan for new hardware, then let windows find it again, it starts working fine again immediately ... for a while.
I also have an external Asus Tuf monitor connected via a USB-C -> DP cable, this ends up in an occasionally black monitor for a few seconds.
I can also confirm that the synapse software is utter cr... , function keys are unreliable among other things.

Well late to comment and not sure if you'll see this or not but here's my story.
I owned a 2022 Blade 14 and the thing kept giving me BSoD nonstop and the weirdest part is that it only seems to BSoD when on battery and does not do that when plugged in so I went and asked my technician to try to resolve the issue and he did everything and even replacing the battery did not fixed the issue so he took a look at the board under a microscope and confirmed that it's a CPU failure and so we ended up putting a whole new CPU on there and it gives the exact same error so now I don't know what to do with my 3k$ laptop.

I moved on from Razer products pretty early on after buying their mice/keyboards off the hype... They failed me after a few months and cost twice as much as logitech products, so I ended up moving on after trying to warranty/RMA the thing and just getting stung. Haven't gone back since(even though some friends swear they're good). They might've been able to fix some issues, but that support/warranty process was so aggravating that I've felt no need to try my luck with them since... I guess as much as those early purchases hurt, the experience saved me a lot of money in the long run...

Synapse has ALWAYS been a joke, I cant imagine having my laptop's vitals tied to it.. Tbh I miss when my biggest issue was requiring Synapse 2 AND synapse 3 running at the same time to control all my peripherals but after Synapse 3 went 8 MONTHS being unable to open on my pc(uninstaller was also broken and support never got back to me) I can never recommend them . Eventually a random update did fix it but I had the same exact issue in Synapse 4 although that only lasted a couple months before a proper reinstall seems to have fixed it

Every brand has its own issues and you can dig into every brand separately. I have Razer Blade 14, Cobra Pro, Huntsman Mini, Viper V3 Hyperspeed and Baracuda X - everything is amazing and works perfectly fine. I wouldn't change it for anything else. I dont use model with RTX 50 series tho, to be fair 100%. But on the other hand, taking couple of bad reviews and saying everything is wrong isnt right. Additionally, this guy is speaking with pure hate, that is clearly audible, not as proper reviewer or journalist should.

I've been buying laptops for 26 years. I've never had issues with Dell laptops, then I bought a Razor in 2017. The damn thing had so many issues with nvidia drivers being installed. Somethin about the onboard gpu drivers kept conflicting with the nvidia drivers and my laptop constantly would stop being able to play games until i wiped all gpu drivers and tried to force install. Eventually I gave up because everything I tried stopped working after awhile. It's an absolute piece of buggy shit. Never buying Razer again
