Not sure.. but hey Steve...
I would say, that sound, that isn't steady... If it was 1 fan, I would be a bit more lost. But when I remembered it's 2 fans.
I would bet they were/are spinning at 2 different RPM. Ive gotten it before in automotive and home appliance.
If you checked and made the RPM exactly the same on both, I would try that first... Im not gonna say, that'll fix it... Just in case.
But.. you and the team probably have thought of this already. But I didn't think of that at the start of typing this.. lol.
And I don't wanna delete it.
Oh.. also.. just some tiny o rings in the screw areas. And a tiny bit of rubber/foam at any touch points..

Wooooooooah, what the hell is THAT. Nice find. I'm glad to see people are continuing to innovate on tower cooler designs, especially since we're coming across a lot of problems trying to keep the board components cool. The shape and fan orientation solves so many problems arising from VRM cooling, RAM cooling, RAM height.
The only disappointment is that it would be PERFECT for also cooling an M.2 SSD if it had just a little more overlap. The need for more than simple passive cooling is beginning to be a problem for pc builders. Then again it may be unwise to rely entirely on secondary cooling for gen5 SSDs and up. Damn do they kick off a lotta heat now.

I know this is asking more time of you, but would you guys consider re-testing coolers that are interesting (like this) with standardized fans? If I were to buy this I would definitely be swapping the fans for T30-120s, Noctua A12x25, or A12x15 depending on clearance. It would help to understand how this compares against competitors like Noctua L coolers or the Alpenfohn Black Ridge from a metal only perspective. It would also be very helpful for SFF to see performance by max height.

A great and detailed review. Few notes - the cooler screws should be called bolts; torx Allen key is funny with Allen being the brand name of a hex key. Using a lower torx on a bolt (or screw) head is one of the better way to ruin the head (and/or the key when made of poor steel), so that should be a major issue for the supplied hardware. Imo, tools like torx key and socketed hex driver should not be supplied with computer hardware. Let Phillips go - it's just terrible.

This is the kind of cooler I was dreaming about when I tried to piece together an all white system many years ago with my FX-60 and potentially a Sapphire PURE CrossFire PC-A9RD580 motherboard. That dream died and now when I build systems it's more of a workstation server aesthetic. But things like this bring that spark back. This with all white components and case with a chromed interior and a white LED lamp to showcase... Maybe one day it comes together.

My gigabyte eagle OC 3070 makes almost idenical intermittent sound. I think it is resonant frequency due to RPM of the fans. I can independantly change fan curve for the blow thru vent fan, and the pair of fans nearest the DP/HDMI connectors. If i change fan curves for either one of them so they are different to each other, the noise has never happened since in 2 years. A small resistor on one of the fans on this CPU cooler to lower its RPM slightly might fix it.

I wonder how much longer Noctua is going to glide off it's reputation. Given the rest of the market, including the OG premium Aircooler brand; Thermalright, are running circles around Noctua now. I literally own the last New performance pushing cooler they released; the U12A, and it's been 4 years now. Quite frankly with the price increases, those and most every Noctua cooler is now a blatant ripoff.

How would this thing fare with better fans, like at least regular width ones? That'd be interesting to see. It's impressive to get such competitive results at that price point and with slim fans. Makes me wish Raijintek would bring back their Morpheus but for CPUs. It's basically just a more robust version of this with 12 thicker heatpipes and more fins. It's a beast for GPUs.

I really like the fact that with the white cooler and fans they actually used white cables. I would like to see them use black or white screws for the fans instead of silver, but minor detail. Overall it seems like a very decent cooler for the price. I really like these budget minded off brand reviews. Thank you Steve and team for your great work.

That intermittent fan rattle sounds 1 to 1 like the issue i had with a fan on my 3d printer. Turns out one of the legs on the windmill-shaped plastic behind the fan (going radially out from the hub to the fan's square perimeter) was cracked and was rattling sometimes. It shut up every time i tapped it, and returned after a few minutes.

I don't understand why this was considered a meme product. It fills the niche of needed extra cooling with limited height and is one of those designs that seem obvious after the fact. Mark my words, we have just witnessed the birth of a new CPU cooler category. Noctua will have their own version within 5 years..... maybe even as little as 2.

I can see this thing blocking a back exhaust configuration on a standard case (probably not the target audience though). A 92x2 config would be interesting...
I would love to see how good can this thing do with high-end fans. Imagine Noctua improving on this design, and a best low-profile cooler is born. probably.

Hey Steve I'm curious how this would do in a typical flow through case. I always felt like a typical tower cooler having the fans blowing towards a rear case fan helps and it blowing towards the motherboard would introduce too much turbulence to really be efficient. I would like to see a follow up. Thanks Steve.

I do wonder when there might be an NH-D16 ot something like that. Maybe skip to 20? It's still a damn good cooler but as Steve said, it is old and probably needs an update and really thinking about it, the D15 was not much of a change from the D14 so maybe Noctua does not know what to do with it? IDK.

My first thought was, This is just a modern take on the old Cooler Master GeminII cooler.
This looks very similar in concept, basically like it was copied or directly inspired by it, and I'm really not upset about that. I loved the GeminII and may consider getting one of these for a SFF build.
