Xfinity Flex Review - It's FREE ... but is it WORTH IT I dont like being shammed. I have had gigabit internet for a little over 3 years. I get a email I will be getting upgrade to 1.5 gigabit speed for free. I burn up routers. My partner and I play several games MMORPG Rift & Blade and Soul. We raid. We typically use about 2.25 terabyte per month in internet data usage. We utilize the gigabit speed and near instant real time game play using 4k, recently when I turned their offer down, my internet speed was being throttled back to less than 200mbps, even though I have been getting about 1.25 gigabit down 40mb up for 3 years for the cost of $120 a month. I filed a complaint with the AG of my state and won a lawsuit against Comcast, in which the outcome was Comcast had to grandfather me into lifetime Internet connection at gigabit speeds and they had to make available to me for life a comcast router, and when the one I am using fails to provide me a Xfinity router when ever I request it for life.
We rarely watch Tv.. because we are almost always playing games on our PCs.\r\n

Man I’m glad I watched this
I’m so confused about this thing Xfinity sent me an email saying my equipment needed upgrading
So here’s the part where I’m confused. I figured I needed a whole new boxes so my initial cable boxes would work with using the apps I have a Firestick in the bedroom so I really have no need for this new thing. However, I don’t have one for the living room and I believe this thing they sent me is meant to replace that option , if that’s the case I’ll just get another fire stick because I have way more streaming services that this thing won’t let me use like you were saying so I guess I’m gonna return that all the equipment and just keep what I have and get a new fire stick for the front room
Thank you for the video you answered a lot of my questions
So, in a nutshell, the streaming apps won’t work without this thing, which is fine, because I can just use a fire stick to replace all that in the front room right

Hi I just watched your video and you are a fabulous first off
I want to thank you so much for the very thorough explanation of how this flex works
I basically open the package only
I have not even connected it but after watching your video I just don’t think I need something like this
I have a Roku it works fabulous it has the apps that I use
I don’t need anything else, I may connect the thing and I will be back with comments
Thanks again Daf

since converting to Flex our bill is going up because they say we are using more data after 7 months. We use the same amount of data. There is no way of checking how much data you use it is their word against yours we turned off flex box and our usage has dropped drastically so using third-party apps is causing us to go over our monthly data. I plan to leave it off and see where it takes us and see what our data says in a month.

No, haven't bought the Xfinity Flex TV Box yet but, yesterday I received an email from Comcast/Xfinity letting me know that they are offering me a free Xfinity Flex TV Box.
I am little hesitant about moving forward thinking..... 'is it really free What hidden charges will Comcast/Xfinity going to add to my monthly ISP bill Thank you , for this in-depth review of the Xfinity Flex TV Box.

I just canceled cable and they sent me the xfinity streaming device without me asking for it. I don’t trust Comcast when they say it is free. When they sent out those free digital converter boxes . They were free but a year later they tried to charge me for them. They keep raising fees. . Broadcast fee went from $8 to $35. A rip off. My fire stick and smart TV is fine for what I need.

I just got mine today because it was free and the agent pressured me to take advantage of it since it was included with my internet subscription. I love the remote, but I disconnected my Flex and put it in the closet after 20 minutes. I already have an Nvidia Shield with all of my favorite apps and apks installed and my iptv subscription service so I don't need the Flex box.

I have a question that even xfinity cant seem to answer. I canceled my xfinity cable and just recieved the flex box. Question is, do i have to return both my old boxes One is the flat cable box and the other is the tower which i think is for internet. Does the flex take the place of the tower for my internet So can i return the two boxes and just keep my flex box for internet
reply

they don't tell you it's only free if you use it..... our internet only package came with it for free which I didn't even want but they insisted so whatever. well I got a 12 dollar monthly charge cause it wasn't online according to Comcast. it's only free if you're watching it which is totally useless as most tvs are already set-up for streaming. junk

Good review thank you I was struggling with wether I wanted to ADD this to already having the Amazon box since I just finally went only internet! Looks like the only benefit to it for us would be Live local TV but for us that would just be to access local new....still not sure if it's worth the effort, soooo it's still in the box lol. Thanks again

Dumb device. You can just buy an Android TV box or Firestick; install Plex and get the same outcome. Having a provider's box on your network is not what a real cord-cutter would do. Plus who knows what the real attempt of the cable company is by providing you this box. It's called Flex for a reason unbeknownst to the user besides just a catchy name.

Is it literally 'mine' to keep once they send it, or is it like a cable box or modem/router where they expect me to return it once I cancel their service Which I will absolutely do the very second I have any other broadband option for my house. Seriously Comcast/Xfinity is the worst viral plague to ever infect humanity.
reply

I canceled my cable and they sent me the flex box. I did not install it. I did not ask for it. I don’t need it. They can not force me to use it can they I have already paid for my streaming services like Hulu etc for the whole year. I don’t want infinity to have anything to do with what I watch

I have a flex box for my dumb tv. It worked fine until now. Sling app does not work as it should anymore. Sling tells me the flex box no longer has the protocols to run their app properly. Firmware updates are not available, so I have to swap it for a newer model. I hope that does the trick.

I have the Flex from Xfinity.
I also have a 32 bit Nvidia Shield.
I also have a Roku smart TV.
So far, I've not noticed much difference among them. I can find most movies and videos on all three. The differences are minor; mostly in the layout and interface.

I'm a senior citizen and not technically savvy. I was floored when, after 1 hour on the phone I could not get a human being to speak to me on the phone. And then they charge you to (so you think) $1.00 to finally speak to someone. fully refunda

I just got the flex (xumo now) box and all it does is bring me to a page where I have to spend at least $43 a month to get anything at all. There is nothing free here. Thanks for your video, I thought I was the crazy one once again. Xfinity sucks.

I have been a Comcast/Xfinity customer for years. I wasn't even aware that they offered the Xfinity Flex Streaming Player until today. I am surprised that they didn't offer it to me when I called them to cancel my cable subscription.

Frankly, what I'm interested in is getting FREE access to movies, etc. Roku, firestick, etc all cost money to run. DOES XFINITY FLEX That's why I was watching. It would be great to know that. You may have said it, and I missed it.

it looks like the remote got updated mines has backlit it feels good quality compared to my fire tv remote..but the ui its meh thats the only downside for me looks like 720p but streaming movies looks the same as an other device

Thanks! I was getting ready to connect this to my Roku TV then I watched your video and saw that it would be redundant. Probably saved me a lot of headaches. I like to keep things simple so I will leave this in the box.
reply

Roku is way better image and audio, flex quality audio and image is average, all the good movies and tv shows are not free.this is another way where comcast wants your money.ROKU is the winner is everything
reply

I got offered this but I turned it down. I have a Roku TV and bought the Pro Roku TV Remote. The fact that you can plug headphones into the remote RokuPro remote is a gamechanger. I wasn't sold on this.
reply

Thanks a lot! Xfinity customer service and I spent 20 minutes trying to fix the remote connecting issue but we didn't figure out Flex is directional. They finally decided to send me a new remote
reply

I thought it was the easiest thing to set up. They give you a new remote, now. Basically I already had most or all of the features with xfinity cable, so it was no different, just no cable now.
reply

This box is a piece of crap is slow it wouldn't connect I could name 10 things that's. Do yourself a favor and get the Amazon stick or the Roku you'll be much happier trust me.
reply

Thank you for your review. i just became a infinity customer and they are sending me a flex but I just bought a Onn box. I will not use the flex. I will stick with the Onn box.
reply

I never knew that I had it coming so I am happy. I am just moving and don't have a Fire Stick yet so I am grateful and excited to set it up. Good Video. Helped me alot!

Installed ok. However. The TV screen is crackling like snow drizzle. It also sound is distorted. I cant see the screen clearly nor is the audio understandable. I m disappointed.
reply

Thing is alright however roku in my opinion is superior I cant even cast my phone to the device so I can watch things off my phone especially movies or shows i want.
reply

I just received Flex, but no installation yet ... after the review I hesitate .. Question: in case I don't like Flex , can I juggle between Roku to flex ..
reply

I tried the Flex for a couple days, but then went out and got a Roku. So much better. I need PBS and Flex doesn’t have it the PBS app. Roku does. Bye, bye Flex.
reply

I have xfinity internet and stream xfinity-beta through Roku. I see Peacock is free but looks like one can only get it through the flex, or is there another way
reply

Free only if you use it but if they don’t see it their system that you don’t use it for like a year because u dont wanna use it they will charge you $8/month
reply

It is the biggest pain for this senior to move it to a new device. Reset the remote. Hope I got it right. Enter in all the info again. No thanks.
