1.1. He might not have mentioned -Linux- for the same reason you said people should stay away from Arch. There isn't one Linux distro, there are many, each with their own set of quirks and peculiarities. He did mention one Linux distro, ChromeOS, but you dismissed it because it's made by a major corporation and doesn't fit in your neat little GNU-LINUX box. Android is Linux, ChromeOS is Linux, Ubuntu is Linux, those giant server farms the US government is using to store and process all data moving via the net is LINUX. Linux means anything that uses the Linux kernel, it doesn't mean anything you, Lunduke or Stallman would approve of.
2. I mean, of course you can't have 99% agree the sky is -blue-, not only don't 99% of people speak English, but there area always those blind and color blind MF that will never see the sky, or see it blue. Not to mention the earth is an obloid sphere that spins around it's axis and the sun so, you know, the sky isn't always blue.
3. So VSCodium doesn't make use the VSCode inbuilt plug in -store-? Or does it come with Tor inbuilt so you can always dl your plugins anonymously? - and this sarcasm coming from someone that does use VS Code. Look, all I'm saying is that there is only that much VSCodium can do for your privacy. With great functionality comes LITTLE privacy... unfortunately.
3.1 So... if Ubuntu's telemetry was to continue growing over the years to the point where it said, can we keylog all your account for the express purpose of committing credit card and back fraud using your data you'd be OK with it as long as they were open about it?

I switched from Win10 to Linux in January. The only problem was (and still is) the desktop environment. I don't care about the look, but starting and managing program windows with the keyboard was so nice in Win10, and in Linux (tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu) even with tweaks and custom keymaps, I still have to use my mouse more often or press way more buttons.
Tried i3 and loved the window manager, but setting up everything around it was too much work and I gave up after a long weekend. Bluetooth, Sound, Clipboard, Brightness, nothing worked correctly even with lots of forum suggestions (maybe my laptop has weird hardware, idk). I am fine with having to configure my machine once and tweak small stuff later, but with i3 it was more than I could afford during work weeks.
I found an article about KDE with i3 as window manager, will give it a shot tomorrow, hope it works smoothly enough.

neither of the options he gave were viable in the slightest, both options require- you to buy new hardware, if the person cant backup their photo's, music, video's and documents and then spam click -next- to install a new OS then they quite honestly belong on windows, its not hard to follow a simple guide from DistroTube on your phone ;)
-I know you can download and install chrome os for any pc I have done it, but is the average user going to be able to work it out? no not at all, they have made it very hard to obtain clearly so they can ell their crappy hardware and then sell you their cloud gaming package.
im also aware you can download mac OS and install it on any pc - again is it viable for the average user? not even close.

Being a Linux user for more than around 4 years, I always wonder why people keep using Windows even after those flaws. But then I realize most people is not gonna install a new OS that probably would mess up their computers. In school you learn about Windows (at least in my country), if you want to buy a PC rarely has other than Windows, it is everywhere. Many people is tired of Windows but they don't know there are other options.
I still remember when I decided to switch from Windows to Linux, it was a gem in the middle of all my bad decisions, but I wouldn't have done that if I wouldn't have forced to learn Linux for my career.

dist-upgrading on an OS which is not optimized for dist-upgrading (which's release cycle is not a so-called rolling release) is always dangerous. There is only a handfull of linux distros manageing to do this without breaking the os, and ubuntu is definetly -not- good at this. Its ment to be re-installed.
If you want a true rolling release, take a look at Arch, openSUSE Tumbleweed, Gentoo and Solus (and ofc their derivatives), with openSUSE Tumbleweed and Solus being more stable than Win10. (Although one of em isn't even backed by a company, TW is backed by SUSE) Sorry, Arch & Gentoo.

Guys, I do not like the Unix/Linux file system management and I'll tell you why. I play and work with a lot of retro style games(Doom, Blood, Quake, ect.) The way Unix/Linux just spreads files all across the hard drive is an absolute nightmare for programs like this, but I want an alternative to Windows. These programs need to be all contained within their own file folders, or else it is a nightmare to find and edit anything. Is my only option to wait for ReactOS, or can I use Pengwin, or some form of Linux with WINE?

Kdenlive Its unusable. The UI has been changed.. a simple right click/delete isn't there anymore. No updated documentation and I spent 30mins trying to figure out how to do it, gave up. Looks great, seems faster but if a long time user can't figure out the basics... moan,moan... yeah also an idiot. I'd hang off on that one guys until we get a tutorial or an updated Manual. -DistroTube -btw stay away from Arch- :D :D

The first title about congratulating Microsoft to switch is kind of sarcastic to be honest XD
Edit: Although the writer never mentioned and kind of gives the users who were looking an replacement for windows atleast and I'm kind of disappointed in my opinion because it leaves users in vain for mentioning something a great viable OS like GNU/Linux that can fix the users problems.

I had severe problems with mouse and keyboard freezing on both distros on my i mac and my hp desktop tried 6 different distros on each machine same result so im sorry to say i had to leave the linux world behind i hope someone picks this message up and look into it the distros where all ubuntu based i could not report the problem directly as my keyboard and mouse would not work

Normal people don't dualboot, normal people don even know what a distro is, much less how to make a usb and install a different operating system what is that anyway?, linux is hard from a non technical person's point of view, that's why is not popular, is getting there but not quite yet, this still is just for us nerds.
