The Basics of Emacs as a Text Editor DistroTube In this video, I'm going to quickly go through some of the basics of using Emacs, the text editor! - https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/ Fennec: When you do something like zooming in with C-x C-=, by the way, you can do C-x z to repeat the last command. Repeated presses of z will continue repeating the command.
Also idk if this is because I have some config set (using fairly vanilla Doom), but when I use C-x C-= to zoom in, I can then continue pressing =, -, or 0 to make further adjustments to the zoom level.

It's like word soup for the fingers!
I think if I needed the extensive functionality of emacs, I would definitely just bite the bullet and slog through the endless keybindings (are they called chords?).
As it stands, vim keybindings are much simpler and vim is also very powerful, at least for what I'm doing.
Belated thanks for the vid!

I am genuinely confused. I installed emacs via scoop on Win10, so maybe I've got something set up weird. But I can use the arrow keys for navigation just fine, in GUI or CLI. Some of the other modes of navigation are cool, but I don't get why I need the C-b or C-f stuff.
Am I missing something?

Great crash course in emacs. I loved the fast pace of it. OK I had to pause or rewind a few times but that is far better than getting bored to tears by some slow poke presentation and screaming at the screen -Get on with it!-. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.

Derek, how would you kindly instruct someone whose default Ctrl-k is performing Cut-to-End but desires a full line cut instead? I hope there's a keystroke alternative instead of an actual config tweak, but I know Ctrl-u doesn't work (like in readline).

OMG, this is the best video for emacs. please work on your edits. when a person is looking for a video they are not interested in seeing your face or you, so perhaps you can start the vid with your screen showing. Just a suggestion.

How can I embed a tweet in emacs?
Also, how can I Copy text another source to emacs to avoid alot of typing?
Copy and paste still doesn't work.
Any help will be much appreciated

This dude seems like he really does not want to make this viddy. Banging on the keyboard and clear sarcasm in his voice is a turn off to finish this.

It needs to build muscle memory when you are young, like learning a language. I wouldn't appreciate notepad until watching this video.
