This is a very useful tutorial. However, it does seem to be lacking in certain kinds of details.
1) is there a limit to how many shapes that can be grouped? I noticed if I exceed about 20 shapes, word 2016 completed slows down & even crashes. I did not have this problem with 2007 software.
Microsoft, the company, appears to be completely silent in this situation, when you browse through all of their help forums. Plenty of people appear to have the same problem, & I for one have used the drawing tools, much like painter software tools for many years (talking 1998 days & forward)
What is Microsoft doing different with the newer software? I-m not drawing simple flow charts here. It's 2017, shouldn't technology be able to keep up with the flow of data?
Sorry, just airing my complaints and I was curious if you had run into similar problems.
thanks

Years ago when MS Word was young I used to group and ungroup a lot, but couldn't figure out how to do it on Word 2016. A simple task, but I was puzzled until I saw this (as always) excellent little tutorial. Grateful to you for the care and thought - and competence - you put into these tutorials. They are short, sweet, and to the point.

I have grouped several shapes together in Word 2016, but now Word won't let me ungroup them. The ungroup button is grayed out. In the group I can select the individual shapes and move and resize them, but I cannot ungroup.
