43: 40 Slight correction(well, not really a correction, rather an addition of info, yes, DirectX Ray-Tracing will be Windows 10 exclusive, however we also have Vulkan Ray-Tracing, which can run on Windows 7, I just wouldn't expect many games to support Vulkan, so yeah, unless Doom gets Ray-Tracing, chances are there will be no big Ray-Tracing games supported on Win7.
58: 57 I am kind of on the fence on the RTX 2080 vs GTX 1080 Ti, even within the next year, we might see significant boosts to the RTX 2080, which would make it worth it if you don't already have a 10 series card. I think it is the -maybe- that people are getting stuck on, it is unproven, and thus, not a safe choice.
For me, while I don't think the -core- architecture has changed that much for the RTX cards(in terms of cuda cores, but I still feel the drivers are early, and you might see performance bumps in traditional games in the future.
But then if you factor in Ray-Tracing and DLSS, well, lets be honest, the 2080 likely will not be a viable Ray-Tracing card, but with DLSS, you are seeing a very real performance boost over the 1080 Ti, but at the same time, that is also the issue, it requires a game to support DLSS, and I guarantee you many games simply will not support it, you will never get 100% support.
I did pre-order an RTX 2080 Ti, but have since cancelled my pre-order, even though I have a 4k 144Hz HDR monitor, I already built my computer with a GTX 1080 Ti, while there is a very real benefit to getting the 2080 Ti, if I did get it, I would be skipping whatever the next gen cards are(from nvidia or AMD, so I decided to wait and instead just get one of the next gen cards next year, even if they don't come out until December 2019, I think that is a better investment for me.

you guys have short memories; Nidvia has done this a lot, w/o industry support. back in 2003 the GPU (which they invented) was so far ahead of game suites they made the slogan -Nvidia the way its meant to be played- because all we had was the short tech demo's which were extremely popular. because the tech was not in games. when we do get some RT/dlss benchmarks they will bring older cards to thier knees like single digit fps. less not forget quadro's lack of software, now just about everything on the planet has been rendered by a Nvidia quadro. Nvidia has always pushed the industry forward. how about 4 core cpu support -0- games now you cant play games without them. lack of games a launch is not much to worry about, I mean the psx started with 4 games and went on to have the most title in console history. its not a leap of faith everything you see in cards today, was not supported a launch.

I hate it. You are complaining for 1200 bucks, but when I used exchange rates with price in my country, the cheapest one is 1588 bucks. That is 400 bucks more. Any businessman here who can explain such price difference to me? I really am baffled. I think I will buy it from over seas and it will still be cheaper with all the travel costs and what's more, I've never even once seen prices go down, they always go up. Like GTX 1070 at first cost 599 bucks and now it is 668 and what is even more infuriating is that avarage income is 700 bucks in my country. Don't believe, just look up Czech Republic.

Hey, I play ARK (ARK is a top 10 Steam title that has sold around 10 million copies) on a 2560 by 1080 75 Hz monitor a 1080 TI does not cut it at all. I kept using my custom loop water cooled GTX 1070 that runs at 2136 MHz. I have been saving a year to buy a new card. I expected the RTX 2080TI to be $900 and $200 for the block and backplate. I bought the NVIDIA Founders since it has the better GPU which is the cheapest one with the better GPU. the cooler does not matter since I am adding an EK Waterblock. ARK is suppose to add DLSS which should get my frames close to 75 Hz.

Elena is so Right! It will be at least 1 to 2 years before Ray Tracing Matter's, And there will be new cards by the time Ray tracing even mater's If Ever. (Gordon, Your Telling people and defending the New GEN On Maybe's and what if's) We already Know what they can do. NOT MUCH MORE. (Your telling people to Spend money on and with the most dishonest company Known to Tech, On A Lick And A Prayer) And U guy's are going Back and Forth over a 100 Buck's (what about the other 600 U have to spend for the 2080TI) That's just to the moon crazy.

NVIDIA will be happy to clear their existing stock of GTX 10 series cards without having to give any real discount due to the launch of a new series. This is the best of both worlds for NVIDIA the 10 series cards will hold their value. NVIDIA will be able also make a premium for the RTX 2000 series cards with the inflated early adopters tax. Isn't capitalism Grand, come on AMD and maybe Intel, definitely need more competition in this market.

I'm with gordon. Your already spending 700 might as wellspend other 100 and get the rtx 2080. However if you already have a 1080 ti keep it until next gen, unless u have money and wanna be on the leading edge then get 2080 ti.
Also these prices might be inflated in attempt to get rid of the over produced gpus nvidia produced not to long ago and when that supply lowers so will the price of the 2080 ti

BUT your paying the $100-150 what happens when you get very low quality RTX features? You would rather have a low end ray tracing than to not have it? The 2080 Ti might have workable performance with ray tracing but I doubt the 2080 will be able to get good performance with ray tracing on. You aren't buying the 2080 for the full RTX experience, even their demos they have show are not very impressive.

I purchased 1080ti sc2 new for $629. 00 and the hydro copper new for $79. 00. I see no use at this stage of the game to use ray tracing in a first person shooter like BF5. Most players TURN DOWN the resolution on BF series games. I will wait for the second generation RTX cards.
