Could have gone for the 64GB DDR4 RAM and the superior P2000 Quadro GPU, also it can take 2 x M. 2 NVMe drives. So buy it with the 256GB SSD and push2 x Samsung EVO PLUS or EVO Pro in there with the Dreamcolor 4K Touch Display - what a possible monster. Yes, of course, pricey but not in relation to what you are already spending and the reasons why. The Xeon E-2186M is essentially the i9 but with the mentioned security features for Enterprise but it has a better single thread CPU Benchmark score than the i9 and slightly better overall performance and use of its 12 simultaneous threads. The Pen that comes with the ZBook Studio x360 G5 has 4, 096 pressure levels. In Theory, you could load 2 x 2TB Samsung EVO Plus M. 2 drives in this machine if you had the money which would also make sense with it being a VIDEO EDITING MACHINE. The drives supplied by HP are slower than the Samsungs would be and in the case of 2 x 2TB, HP supplied drives in their configurator you only pay $ 50 more overall if you go with the 256GB SSD M. 2 in the build.
The only real moans I have heard about this laptop are flexing of the lid but only in the middle and in extremis but apart from that not much else other than the usual fan noise if you push it. But that is going to happen anyway and you can tweak in the BIOS when the fans come on etc.

-You're going to use a convertible for video editing? -
-ignores question-
-That's a nice thin box, that's pretty promising-
I know you guys mean well, but watching this is so infuriating. Stop talking about how thin it is. So tired of the thin and light crap. I haven't found one good review of this system all over the Internet. This thing is for creatives, artists. It uses a Wacom AES Pen, with tilt at 4096 pressures! That's one of its main selling points! Most pen tablets are -thin and lights-, and do not have the power that this has. Talk about the pen! Or the touch interface! How responsive is the pen, touch and pinch/zoom on a 40mp file in Photoshop? Why are you guys talking about games on a workstation for working artists? If you needed a similar system for video editing, get the Zbook Studio 15 (the non-x360 version of this. It's exactly the same specs but doesn't have pen support.

I should note that when you use the tablet mode on the x360s correctly as in lying flat on the table to use your pen on to make sketches it's really awesome. Also if you're reading through documents for example while waiting on a plane in an airport lobby couch then tablet mode also shines. As one who've used an x360 (with a 100% colour accurate 1440p OLED display) for almost 2 years, I won't go back to a clam shell.

Excellent preview and discussion, on point and without fluff. This unit is a real beauty and a workhorse! Looking forward to the review. The build quality seems outstanding. Not owning a convertible, I-ve never thought about using tent mode in conjunction with an external keyboard and mouse: this is a great usage scenario for people who would not have a use for it otherwise

Please make an extended review about battery life for day to day use, multitasking, working with graphic intense programs (adobe, etc. ; how well does the pen work, how does it feel, pressure sensitivity, tilt function; built quality of the laptop; cooling system, are the fans loud; is the trackpad good; how-s the typing experience; speaker quality; webcam quality.

I need to see a review of this thing. What's it capable of doing? Can it run some games? What's the battery life? Is it easily upgradable? Do you recommend the i7 or the Xeon Processor? Can one activate the sim card slot? Looking forward to seeing all of these questions answered!

The key for privacy screen is F2. I wish y'all would've gone over how the dock works, I just got one of these at work and all I can figure out is smacking the top of the dock turns the computer on. The booklet doesn't talk about the features of the dock at all.

Thanks for sharing this. Just about to order the 4K i9 version with 32GB for professional picture editing on location. Here-s hoping the 600NITS of screen brightness provides a significant improvement on visibility outdoors relative to the new MacBook Pro.

The WORST thing about this HP computer is WINDOZ operating system! Worthless, constant updates, delays, failures! If it could use Apple operating system, it would be great alternative to Apple computers.
