Intel has revealed information about it's upcoming 13th-Gen 'Raptor Lake' CPUs, and Gordon is here to go over all of the juicy details. In this video he covers the parts announced, expected gaming and content creation performance, and answer the question of whether you should wait for 13th-Gen reviews or buy Ryzen 7000 now. Maheer: So while I agree with waiting. I think it's very telling that they kept the i9 cheaper than the 7950x by 110 I think if they were confident that their chip is better or equal across the board they would charge a premium over AMD. They are a business and if their chip is competitive it makes sense to charge as much as you can get away with which means whatever your competition is selling it at. 110 less is a big difference

I don t like E-Cores, the only approach of E-Cores I can like is Apple having a small number of E-Cores and a big number of P-Cores, having a couple of let s say weak cores to do background task and leave all the high power cores basically free to other any workload at its best.
That been said the i5 and i7 Rocket Lake at a good price combine to the ability of use DDR4 if you want can be very appealing, in fact I may go for one of them, preferably the i7 because I want 8 P-Cores, I wonder and hope if it will be possible to have AVX-512 on them disabling the E-Cores temporally as you could initially with 12th Gen Alder Lake, that being said I must add that I really don t like the i9 13900K core configuration, all those E-Cores are just padding to look better in multithreaded benchmarks that progress linearly with the number of cores independently of their power, that can be attractive to some server/enterprise workloads, but I don t think it s a good approach for general purpose CPU

After seeing 7600x benchmarks, AMD does not seem to perform well in multi-threaded applications, but their strong single core CPU performance gives them a very strong growth in gaming performance. Though, Ryzen 4 was a disappointment over all to me. Moore's Law hyped that to no end and even banned me for disagreeing about his hype. These leakers are doing more damage by selfishly hyping future products for attention.
However, it seems that CPU does underperform considering how much more expensive it is. Very expensive motherboards, expensive cooling, expensive new ram. All of this and it only beats Alder lake i5 reliably across the board. Overall reaction from people are disappointing and I'm afraid that Raptor Lake with its massive amounts of cores will just crush Ryzen processors in all multi-threaded applications.

I wish someone would do a real world test of the various music production workloads, such as using various DAWs to test track/plugin loads and compare Intel vs AMD vs AMD TR vs Mac M1. All the reviews I see are creator workloads or gaming workloads. I understand that these are my workloads, but there has to be others that produce music. I would even be interested in working with someone to iron out this type of testing, as I have time. Buying Ryzen 7000 doesn't make a whole lot of sense yet, as that's a ton to upgrade - AM5 mobo, DDR5 RAM, maybe a new PSU, the CPU... ugh. AM5 boards are pretty expensive.

Looks great but because of Intel's pathetically short platform lifespan I'll be going AMD, Intel isn't a option. Imagine getting a AM4 PC 6 years ago and getting up upgrade till last year to the best gaming CPU (5800x3d) and productivity CPU (5950x) without having to change the mobo/RAM etc.
Hopefully AM5 also lives for a long time, 4 years have already been promised by AMD.

Also, there is a video showing the i912900k beating the 5800x3d in World of Warcraft.
You need to get ddr5 ram, and fine tune it with tight timings.
So, for this new chip it'll just get even higher.
So I will get the 13900k and really nice ram. for the ultimate WoW experience. While having A HUGE boost in other titles beyond even what this chart shows.

So if you have Alder Lake you could upgrade to Raptor Lake and presumably have the fastest processor for gaming (until X3D parts).
If you get Ryzen 7000 today on AM5 you get close enough to Raptor Lake (if it is faster) and X3D in a few months, then Ryzen 8000 or 9000 later on.
Why build an all new Raptor Lake system on a dead platform?

I'm looking forward to the competition! AMD lighting a fire under Intel's ass during the AM4 days is really paying off now. I'm happy to see both companies trying their damnedest to outperform one another. Power and heat are still an issue though when you try pushing frequency as hard as they are.

Please include CAD software like Autocad inventor (Architectural / Mechanical), Solidworks and Ansys to your benchmarking suite coz many users buy expensive desktop and workstations to run these. Cinebench and Adobe suite dont give a clear idea for these kind of use cases.

AM5 will be a better long-term investment than Raptor Lake. LGA 1700 will be a dead end once Meteor Lake launches next year while AM5 owners will have new CPUs for their motherboards for another 2 years at minimum (likely 3-4 depending on when DDR6 enters the market).

Generally seems in line with the leaks that MLiD confirmed. That they don't feel able to increase prices won't please the investors.
Reviewers rarely mentioned that the 7600x equals 7950x in light threaded as higher base clock, there's also a thermal boost

This is going to be a great, competitive CPU generation. I suspect Intel will have an edge here... but I'm still very curious as to whether the rumour of lower-end than 13600K SKUs are just refreshed Alder Lakes with E-cores. That would suck.

I jusslt dont know why you guys shooting empty shots here, what point talking about all these when they are not yet out? Speculation is not good enough content to talk straight with ryzen testbench result out here

Just wondering if it'll actually save power in laptops this time, or continue with Alder Lake's pushing of the E-Cores too far to make up multicore performance and burning up too much power to do so

I have a Haswell CPU (i7 4790k), I have been holding off from upgrading for almost 8 close to 9 years now. Maybe it's time now or should I wait for Meteor Lake (Intel 14th Gen) releasing next year 2023?
