Whether you are retouching, designing, or compositing, Snapshots allow you to save different versions of the same image keeping all the layers, filters, and effects intact. A very important tool for comparing several versions, or settings, of the same image and choosing the best ones, Snapshots will enable you to travel back and forth in time just like a Saved Game (You'll understand this if you were a gamer like me

I always look forward to your videos. I'm a beginner and all of them are very easy to follow and understand.
You may find this interesting. I take your videos and then share them with a team that I am working with and these guys are super PS pros. and when I share your link with them. I can hear them say from their offices [Hey! I didn't know you could do that? - or - Wow! This is so cool, wished I had known this before] - which makes me think that not only am I learning some cool, interesting and awesome things. but they are current, relevant and up-to-date. thanks sir!

As others have pointed out, the snapshots are temporary. The moment you close the document, the history is lost. It'd be helpful to add instruction on how to save each of those snapshots permanently in case we want to revisit or use these in a future editing session.

Thank you so much for this video. I have been using Photoshop almost from the beginning of Photoshop, and I was not aware of this feature. You are by far the best Photoshop instructor in the world.

great tips, one question please, if I did many snapshots and wanted to save the file in PSD and close it. What if I open the file again, does it come with all snapshots? Thank you again and keep up

Do snapshots save through saves as well?
Eg:
1. I create a snapshot
2. I save the document
3. I close
4. I re-open the document
5. Re-choose snapshot

Great tip. Just bear in mind that unlike layers, snapshots exist in RAM (only as long as the file is open. So once you close your file in PS they are gone.

There's one little problem with snapshots. Sometimes it's a huge problem. Once you close your file all snapshots are deleted.

Snapshots are not saved in PSD's. As soon as you save the file and then reopen it, the snapshots will be gone.
