In the beginning I loved Spotify! 4 years later? Nope. Everything is great until Spotify flips compatible device owners the bird and stops support..... Everyone should know, Spotify arbitrarily decides to stop supporting your device and it stops working. Case in point, my 1,600 Yamaha Receiver.....that actually had Spotify connect working as advertised on the box, in the manual, all product literature for over 3 YEARS. Then last month POOF! It stopped working after I updated the Connect app. Tried everything, then reached out to Spotify Support. They could easily confirm my app was current, that I had Premium account, and they could see that I had been connecting to my Yamaha receiver via the Spotify app for a long time. At first they tried to help.....most everything I had tried before. Reset router, forgot network and connected again, turn it off and on, unplug it and plug it back in. After a few emails back and forth they FINALLY admit they just recently stopped supporting my Yamaha and that I should maybe just use Bluetooth and good luck. I asked that's it? I now have a nice fancy receiver with a useless Spotify icon and feature on it? Basically Yes was the answer. Resolution? Bluetooth or buy a new receiver. That ended my relationship with Spotify. Cancelled my Premium membership and I use Google Music now.....which works with my Yamaha just fine.....even though it was not even advertised as a feature when I bought it. I was the biggest fan of Spotify for years, and now they can pound sand.

Here is a tip that Spotify doesn't seem to care about fixing. But be VERY careful of the songs you hit the like on. If you ACCIDENTALLY click like on a song you don't like, you CANNOT undo this! Spotify will now play that song, and more songs like it. Does that sound good to you? Your playlist is now ruined, and every time you load up that playlist it will ALWAYS play that song because re-clicking the like or unlike button does NOTHING! The opposite is true, if you accidentally unliked a song you actually like, it is now forever gone. If you didn't manage to write it down, you will never hear it in your playlist again. It's been years now and Spotify hasn't done anything to fix this. Pandora, however, let's you unlike a song, better yet, if you accidentally unlike a song...it doesn't DELETE it forever, you can go back in your history and bring it back. Even better if you get tired of a song because you heard it long enough, you can have it NOT play for a little bit. With Spotify, you have to either DELETE IT or have it play every time you load up your playlist. I mean yeah, you have the option to skip with premium, but what good is that if you're at work. I cannot keep going back to my device to push a button when I have shit that needs to get done in my job.

I have my own tips after using premium for 5yrs. Volume Normalization mut be always off! Because it applies +/- gain depending on the song's mastering just to level all volumes. Thus you will loose the purpose of the dynamics/vibe/groove that a song is specifically tuned and become boring and no fun to listen to any song after 1hr due to seems they sound the same. Volume level (Loud,Normal,Quite) all trash! I've proven this using my Chord Mojo DAC + IE80s headphone, the song is already not that detailed vs a flac due to streaming quality and looses more details by adding these volume modifications. If you are using phone only, the things I mentioned might not be noticeable because phones don't have a good DAC. But if you use a DAC turn off that setting to keep all the song's dynamic range. My settings are (Volume level off + Equalizer off) and let my Chord Mojo + headphone do the magic!

The perfect radio app has yet to be made. Need someone whos been around for a while. Used Cds and tapes. Was so much simpler then. Just had a cd case. But you always had the only and best version. Sound quality was always its best. Yeah you had to change cds, but nothing else other than that. Music is way too damn elaborate and stressful. You can customize this and that and make your own cute little special playlist made by you to showcase just how unique and precious God made you, but damn, just being like lets jam some 2pac and just pop in the cd, was just so much more chilled. Guess im the old fvcker now telling folks to get off my grass, but i miss simplicity of some things. I could make an app that used that concept and i bet it would go hard. Maybe one day...

When I open spotify, it asks me to sign in. okay So I put in my email/username and my password and it states that one of them is incorrect and it displays (Error code: 3) and so I go to reset password. I put my email/username in so they can send me the thing to reset the password. And it tells me that my email is not associated with an active spotify account. The problem here is, I haven't been active because SPOTIFY KEEPS DOING THIS TO ME. And if I try to sign up with my same email, it tells me it's TAKEN. Heeeeelp...

Is the music from Spotify mp3s or m4a files. What isthe bit rate, and can you tell spotify what rate you want? One more question. If I cancel after the trial, do I lose all the local files i have? And a last question: Spotify wants my information before they're willing to tell me anything. They even want my debit card number But to get any information, I have to come to Youtube to get it. Does this practice of thiers promote trust in them?

I'm very new in Spotify.. please I bought the 1 year subscription in Distrokid, but I'm not sure how to use it. I use to make music for a 10 years but When I'm going to upload new music on distrokid, it's asking me to put the audio file and cover art and things like that.. I was like I don't need to do that because it's already on Spotify ? Or I have to do that ?? Thanks

I prefer SoundCloud because even without the premium you still get to make your own playlist shuffle play or replay your favorite song over and over again. And even skip from song to song. You can even produce your own music and they say there's ads but I haven't gotten one ad in the last month and I haven't even bought the premium. I think SoundClouds better tbh

Spotify must go with the idea that Favorite artists should be very easy to organize. The way things are now, it's cumbersome and nuissessential. Say that I want to remove a particular artist from my master list - they make you click on the artist page and do it manually. People, it's easy as unchecking (checkmark or uncheck) on the screen.
