If you wanted to know all about the prep for Will Tennyson's bodybuilding show, especially the training and workouts that he did, then you've come to the right place. In this video, Jesse and I are going to take a look at the Will Tennyson's workouts leading up to his bodybuilding show and break down what we see and give insights where we can. Just like I've done for every other celebrity workout review that I have done in the past, I am going to remain respectful and provide an unbiased review of Will Tennyson's workout. Not only that, but I am going to explain how you can implement some of his training techniques into your own workouts so you can see success as well. Train Smart Here - Subscribe To This Channel Here - When it comes to Will Tennyson's bodybuilding preparation, he starts by stepping on the scale and mentions that he has lost around 30 pounds in his pursuit of getting lean enough to be bodybuilding contest ready. I want to make note that people shouldn't allow their day to be determined by the number they see on the scale. This is because weight can fluctuate greatly due to many factors including whether or not you've eaten, how hydrated you are, and even what time of day you are weighing yourself. Whether the number is higher or lower than you are expecting, it shouldn't determine your mood because there are still changes you can continue to make to get yourself to where you want. Will then goes over his morning routine before the gym where he puts on his posing trunks and sends physique check-ins to his coach. This highlights an issue that I find very prevalent in the bodybuilding community; body dysmorphia. Will comments that he feels like he looks flat and depleted, despite his extremely lean and muscular physique. He even states that he feels he is a higher body fat percentage than he really is and that it contributes to him feeling less than stellar mentally. Obviously, anyone on the outside looking in would say that Will looks great! Extremely lean and quite muscular. This psychological effect is a real concern for anyone in the bodybuilding community and can actually lead to habits that are unhealthy both physically and mentally. It's important to keep things in perspective and to realize that not everything we see in the mirror is reality. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and revaluate what we are looking at. Will Tennyson then mentions more psychological effects from his bodybuilding prep where he goes onto say that he doesn't really enjoy going to the gym and training anymore. He states that he has to mentally prepare himself for his chest, back & biceps day. I think it's safe to say, when you are in a physically and mentally depleted state, asking yourself to engage in that kind of work out is asking for a lot. It might be easier to focus on a single muscle group at a time so that way you have enough energy the next time around to engage with another muscle group. With his current workout split, there is some carryover between muscle groups, in this case the back and biceps. What this means is that less work is needed, directly, for the biceps which also means lower daily workout volume. Trying to tackle a high volume workout in such a depleted state is asking a lot of your body, something it may not be prepared to handle. From here, Will mentions that he has lost strength and muscle during his cut, but it doesn't discourage him from having the same mindset of attacking his workout and that by treating it with the same intensity, he will get more out of his workouts. This is interesting because while you may not get the same output in terms of performance, you can still give a high effort and bring the necessary intensity to continue to build muscle in the process. It becomes clear that preparing for a bodybuilding competition is a mental prep as well as a physical prep. By maintaining the right mindset and outlook on everything can make all the difference in the world between success and failure. To see more of Will Tennyson's workout and bodybuilding prep, be sure to watch to the end of the video to see what else he does and the insights that Jesse and I can provide so you can figure out what is useful and what can be left behind when it comes to your own training and workouts.

That’s what I don’t get. BMI. NOT WEIGHT LOSS BUT BETTER BMI. I’m embarrassed to say but last visit to see my neurologist was 5/20, and he said best thing he recommended was lose weight. Best anti seizure med he could provide. It’s been almost 7 years with epilepsy and said Adkins diet would be best for me. I don’t know what to eat! 3 meals a day and all. But man. When I met him back in 2018 I was 357lbs. After 4 years later I started walking my dog 2 miles a day around the neighborhood and slowly stretched to 8 miles a day with my dog and he was happy and loved being out more. At the appointment I weighted in at 329lbs back on 5/20. My BMI says for a male 5’10 should be 174lbs. nooooo way half of me is melting off. But I’ve been eating more protein and sat. Fats with greens to start ketosis stage and I’m not sure when I know other than clothes fitting better I’m trying with working out. Treadmill max height and a nice speed walk. My brother said I shouldn’t be worried about weight and mess with the weight machines or id look like a funny ball of muscle and a lot of fat. So I’ve been consistent for 5 days now and don’t feel hungry. Drink a lot of water

I am 56 years old and will be 57 in November. I am an avid bowler, averaging anywhere between 210 - 220. This past season I felt fatigued during the season and was trying to build up my endurance during the season, to no avail. This off season, May thru August, I am going to try and get my strength back up so that all I need to do is maintain when the season starts back up. I have been working out on my own, trying to building muscle. But I think I am approaching it wrong and should be consintrating more on stamina building excercises. However, I would still like to build muscle and look good with my shirt off. I would like to develop a workout plan that will allow me to perform both. Maybe my average will go up because of it. Do you have any plans or suggestion that would help be achieve my goal Great videos, I watch you all the time.

I really appreciate his story, but not everyone has the same journey. I agree with the thoughts that he had (never seeing the progress and whatnot, but compartmentalizing everything is essential. Fitness path is it's category (including nutrition, rest, and supps, but you can't let that flood over. I was fat after I got outta the hospitals (I died on my Harley back in 2015) and I let too many thoughts flood once i was cleared to get back into fitness. Once I got those thoughts under control, I was able to get the most shredded that I've ever been. Granted, I'm not as strong as I was when I was benching 330 and squatting 495, but I got a much better understanding of positive progress. Now, I just gotta reframe my training and add that strength that I had, plus more!

Appearances can very deceiving. Most people cant see what I have done with my body.
I lift three times a week at age 75. My intensity days are Mondays and Fridays.
I’m 5’6 tall and weigh 173. My body fat is around 20% most of which is situated at my love handles and stomach area.
I have plenty of muscle and decent symmetry and look good in a sleeveless shirt or a long sleeved athletic shirt.
I am currently slowly losing bodyfat and trying to maintain my current muscle. My goal would be to get down to about 165 and be at around 15-16% body fat with a relatively flat stomach and minimal love handles.
At my age, I’m already in better shape than 95% of all males.
I want to get to 98%

I started working out again back in November. I eat clean and have dumped 10lbs in six months. But I've reached a point that I stay constantly hungry. No junk food or fast food. Lunch I have chicken and noodles sometimes. Plus some beets and yogurt with blueberries and honey. Sometimes tuna and cottage cheese, yogurt with blueberries and honey. A snack is sometimes hummus with crackers or cheese instead of hummus.
Before I go the gym I eat a couple of eggs, then drink critical amminos with creatine on the way to the gym. Then whey isolate after my workout

On the body dysmorphia, I can confirm. Years ago, when I was objectively in the best shape of my life, I absolutely hated every facet of my appearance. All I could see was the flaws, real or perceived, in every look I took at myself, in the mirror or by looking down. Now that I'm horrendously out of shape again and have the displacement of a Liberty Ship my biggest regret is having not kept at it despite the mixed feelings.

Hi guys, I’ve got a general question- hope I’m not being too rude or presumptuous, or derailing, and I think this is better for the ask Jeff sections( but I never know where to find those) I’m a relative newbie, and I’m thinking of trying GVT for at least 4 weeks, because I’ve hit a plateau and come to a grinding halt. I find Jeff’s question and answer videos super helpful, so if he could do a general video on GVT.

I don't think that's helpful to say that you lose brain cells from working out. Working out is very beneficial to your brain that increases blood flow and oxygen flow the muscles are directly connected to the nervous system which includes the brain it's all the muscles are connected to the nerves which is connected to the brain and therefore working out helps to improve brain function

Will really blew my mind on this. I really would have been impressed if he just got to the event and did it, but to crush it like that was really amazing. I knew he had a lot of dedication in his tank, but this was a level I didn't expect (that said, if he sticks with it, I hope he find a better balance because this looked stressful as hell mentally)

Congrats to Will on the achievement. He's earned those donuts. I wonder if they make carrot cake donuts Anyway, taking a deep dive into Will's training prep as he got ready for his bodybuilding show. If you want to hear a critique on the diet side of this equation let me know in the comments below. There's some important lessons and takeaways there too.

I just don't see how this dude claims natty. Lost 30lbs and almost zero strength loss. That's just not how the natural body works. I don't think he's on a ton of gear, but he's definitely on some var and a solid dose of test. All these influencers are on something and I don't blame them considering their physique is basically what makes them money.

You commented on him lifting his butt. I don't know a lot but if you lift near the last rep or 2 just to grind a little more instead of a straight fail, is this not still an increase in intensity by essentially turning it into a drop set by easing the load I mean Myo reps are just taking a quick break and grinding a few more

I enjoyed this. From where I am it’s great to see someone making a daring decision to go out of their comfort zone and do the thing the don’t normally do. Then see the progress and process of self development and determination. Then having to journal it. An inspiring vid as well, I envy.

Dear Jeff, which back exercises do you recommend for people with hyperlordosis And which ones are the most dangerous Are squat types exercises to be avoided or are still affordable with minimum weights I hope you can make a video about it in the future. Wish the best to you and Jessie

love this vid.
reminded me when i trained like this, i gauged my muscle preservation when cutting weight by trying to keep as much strength as possible.
that's also the advantage of also being natural athlete, you keep it simple -- Diet and Training intensity

Great job! Congratulations! Just saying and this is just me. I lost 35lbs in 30 days while working out and never lost energy. In fact, I felt amazing. I was hard-core keto/carnivore. I never counted calories. Again, great job. Just sharing my experience.

He looks inbalanced to me. His legs are way too big compared to the rest of his body and his neck is way too thin.
He should stop thightraining and start doing neck and calves and leave the gym in favour of some general sport activity, like basket.

Your brain runs exclusively on glucose. Carbs also release serotonin. Most of your serotonin is absorbed in your upper intestinal tract. Him being so depleted is why the brain fog and easily angered. Getting hangry and you all will feel this happen.

It'd be nice to be rich enough to dedicate my time to bodybuilding. Unfortunately I gotta work over 40 hrs a week to survive. These influencers never acknowledge how fortunate they really are. The rest of us don't get this kind of opportunity.
