Get the truth about abs from a REAL coach. When it comes to getting lower abs, there's way more than just the ab workouts you're doing. Above all, you better make sure that you are performing quality reps and not just quantity on your ab exercises. Why is that? Because, poorly performed reps in your lower ab workout can lead to your belly becoming anything but flat. Most guys and gals will push out against their abdominal wall when performing their reps and this can cause ab distention and protrusion (anything but a flat stomach. Instead, when performing your lower ab workouts you want to be sure that on each and every repetition you are first contracting your transverse abdominus muscle. You want to activate this inner weight belt and then contract through the exercise range of motion. At no point do you want to relax this muscle contraction until the rep is completed. You may find that this greatly decreases the number of reps that you are performing in your lower ab workouts, but that's ok. It's always better to perform quality reps on every abdominal exercise than it is to perform lots of sloppy ones. Secondly, you always want to make sure that you follow a smart eating meal plan. That doesn't mean that you have to count every single calorie and eat like a bird. In fact, you can eat a lot if you are eating the right nutrient dense foods. Thinking you can eat garbage and get a ripped six pack is simply not true. Thinking that you can just do ab workouts and ab exercises and get a 6 pack is also not true. It requires a dedicated effort and a commitment to changing your body. I always say, there are no six pack shortcuts on the way to anywhere worth going! To follow a workout and nutrition program that requires hard work but yields incredible results for your efforts, head to and get the only pro athlete strength coach designed workout program - ATHLEANX

I love watching your videos. This one effects me more because this is an area that i really have been trying to work on. I never had a problem my whole life with fat because i never had any. Then i tried, really tried to eat all the bad foods just so i could bulk up. Now that i did i have fat in weird places like my lower ab area and my lower ass area. So now i have to figure out how to loose that fat and excercises that help me do that. Your videos really help me think outside the box on my workouts and i thank you for that. I try to work multiple muscle groups at the same time. I guess one thing i would like to see is a good glute workout routine. Or some sort of help in this area.

Thats funny how he took a jab - Mike Chang! My guy Naudi Aguilar doesn't like him either but everybody has their reasons. I've supported Mike tho, he seems like good dude, but guys like Jeff, Naudi, Elliot break down science. Thats where its at! Fitness is a science of understanding YOUR body's own physiology, neuromuscular systems, biomechanics, anatomy etc. I follow these guys more now a days cuz they speak out on more educated terms into getting fit all around. Jeff is the man. athlean-x is the best!

I swear, during my drive to gym today (back, abs, biceps) I said to myself: -I'm gonna workout and feel good about it. Then I'm gonna get home to find that Jeff put up a video about one of the body parts that I worked today, and it's gonna make me feel like shit when he shows me what I did wrong. - And here were are. I did hanging leg scissors as well as hanging leg raises, and while I tried to not use momentum/hip flexors, I definitely wasn't contracting my lower abs this way. Another great video.

hey there. I have a very important question and I hope someone could respond, please. i'm 17 and I was fat and lost a lot of weight and now I feel my ab muscles and they are hard and strong from workouts but due to me losing a lot of weight I have loose skin which doesn't allow my abs to show. so what are some tips to losing this excess skin from my belly that are covering my abs? please anyone

if u r not 6 % bf you will not see ur abs in best definition. high carb vegan diet, plus good cardio exercise ( best is to run marathons or do a lot of cycling, will give you those lower abs without any workout. but if you want more muscle there, do heavy ab exercises. 5 reps of crunches, 5 reps of leg raises, 5 reps of oblique sways. period

Hi Jeff, I've never really checked my fat levels but I'm thinking I'm a little less than 10% body fat. I have great abs but I think I have muscle in my obliques and they look bigger than I'd like them to be. Any idea on making those oblique muscles super lean? Some people say they'll only get bigger if I work them. Kind of confused.

Superb as always, we need more people like myself & Geoff promoting proper form, tempo and trying to make the athletic body the goal as it once was in bodybuilding, now days they all look fat and are in dangerous health states,
Let's get back to the dad of steve reeves were people had muscle they could 'use' in life and sport

This Six pack abs guide -suza great plan- (Google it) is quite excessive guide. To shed your weight and make your belly six-pack it is very useful book I think. I almost shed 3 pounds weight with in 10 days. It is very useful to me, I have got 6 pack abs following this guide detail by detail. You should try this book also.

Just do power cleans, deadlifts, squats, overhead press, add those into your workouts and eat clean and you'll have beast abs, you don't need to isolate abs to have great abs, just do functional movements with proper form and your core will naturally look great.
