refined carbs, high quality protein, and healthy fats. No macro or micronutrient should ever be entirely excluded from your diet if you want a long term solution. Athletes certainly don't screw around with gimmick diets and fad nutrient manipulation knowing how important sound nutrition is to their performance. Neither should you. If you want to see exactly what a sustainable nutrition plan would look like, then be sure to head to and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System and X-Factor Meal Plan

Yeah listen, in terms of everything other than eating, you-re the guru. but don-t hold on to the old fitness industry ideas cause eating often, even if you have a good diet, you-re harming your body overall. Plus, you-re ignoring autophagy, which it turns out is a very important physiological mechanism that you-re basically shutting down with constant eating. of course if you-re looking to optimize muscle building, OMAD might not be optimal, but in the long run, most people can get used to skipping breakfast and having smth light after 8pm if necessary. I-ve been intermittent fasting now for a year and things happen in your body that I think most ppl would be happy with and to a very low -mental & physical cost-. It-s not pain to skip a meal or two a day. If you suffer from THAT, you should be worried. Just saying. Humans developed over many generations to skip many meals

I-ve been doing low-carb (with healthy meats, dairy, oils, and lots of vegetables) for two years now. I-ve combined that with intermittent fasting and a moderate amount of exercise and have had great results. I understand that mini -diet- are just short term fixes people turn to which will not help them. But I don-t think it-s accurate to say that these are all just -fads- and won-t work in the long term. It will depend on the person and the level of commitment. In fact, low carb combined with intermittent fasting is the only thing I-ve been able to make work for longer than a few months! I think the reason is that if you limit your carbohydrate intake, your system changes such that you don-t get super cravings for food and can better control cravings and hunger.

I am 40 and I have worked out my entire life. I played a lot of sports especially football. I am martial artist and compete regularly in Jiu-Jitsu. Most of my life I had a super duper metabolism. Now I gain unwanted weight and started feeling like shit because I-m addicted to sugar and caffeine. I did a 72 hour fast and then did a nutritional cleanse. I intermittent fast and eat once a day and have a smoothie everyday then 16 hour fast. I take clean supplements for healthy digestion, vitamins including D3, zinc, magnesium, fish oil, and supplements for inflammation. My taste buds have changed and what I eat is delicious. The change physical and mental is incredible. First step is hardest and it-s not that hard to do.

Intermittent fasting is natural though. Humans were met to hunt and go through a fast while they hunt. So realistically it is natural for our bodies to fast. You don't even need to do intermittent fast everyday. I do it 4 days out of the week which is days I work. I love it so far and honestly it wasn't even bad for me and I enjoy it. The challenge and notice my abs are popping out a lot more now. Look up Dr. Jason Fung and his talk on intermittent fasting. He breaks it down and talk about how it really is a better way to live for most people. That being said Jeff at Athlean-X is an inspiration and I love listening and watching his videos. Thankful for his videos to learn from.

If you tried IF and it didn't work for you, then don't do it. If it works, you should continue.
I was in college and just hella busy or sometimes lazy in the morning so I don't eat breakfast and accidentally IF. My energy level wasn't low since I just ate more later on the day, and I also ate mostly healthy so that was the main thing I believe most IF -supporters- are doing. Those that can't do it are probably eating way less than they are supposed to or straight cutting a lot from the getgo without letting their body slowly adjust to it. Even worse if you are eating unhealthy or extra calories dense junk foods.

Like many others said, IF is not a diet, but shifting your eating window for optimal digestion. When you give your stomach a proper rest, it operates better. Digestion is at the center of your health, not your fitness, but your overall health. Giving your digestion proper time to rest has many benefits. I don-t do it for weight loss and haven-t really lost much weight on it nor do i use it to reduce calories. I try to do a 16/8 eating time, which is usually I eat from 12-8. I dont freak out if its a little more or less because Im doing it for health, not weight loss.

Often watch your workout advice. Good stuff. Your opinions on diets I cant agree on the slightest. Not only did IF and LowCarb lost me 40 pounds and healed my insulin resistance and fatty liver, but by just adding more protein to the diet and starting to weight lift 3 times a week I managed to add 14 pounds of muscle in 12 months. And it should all be really hard because I am already 66. Diet is extremely individual and being nearly carnivore is the best lifestyle for my health according to my health checkups. Go figure.

IF + meal prep = easy weight loss.
Most people don't start eating (breakfast = breaking your fast) because they're hungry but because they're accumstomed to eat at 8 am or half an hour before heading to work etc.
I start eating when I'm hungry and since I prepared my meals I don't have to stuff my face with the very first thing I can grab from the fridge. This is esp. important because I got absolutely no discipline or self-control when it comes to eating whatsoever.

I was tried Intermittent fasting before on short terms seems works i loss 3-5kg on 2weeks but it kills my muscle a lot, im an ectomorph, so i stick to high protein diet, and also count my own calories (fat, carbs, protein and reduce sugar), calorie deficit everyday( mild weight loss 1700 calories, 50-60g fats maks, 120-150g protein per day ) and my muscle growth significantly and my belly fat decreased now i have 15% bf, and i'm going to get 10%bf

I do night shift. so my fast starts from 1 am in the morning till 6 in the evening. I sleep around 7 to 8 in the morning with drinking only water or sometimes black coffee. Wakes up at 4 in the evening and then I can wait for another 2 hours easily. That way I don-t feel hungry at all. I work out after I break my fast with some protein and carbs. then I eat some post work out meal. after 2 hours then finally a big meal.
