Love the videos. It's interesting to see the variances in body fat from different measurement sources. I've worked with so many clients including body building, physique, figure, etc that I guarantee I could predict a much more accurate body fat assessment then any of these machines. That is if it's 20% or lower after that it becomes a bit tougher. Just from watching the video before they tested I would have put you at about 9-11% probably in between the two. Think it just goes to show that in the end we're really a powerful computer and gathering enough data over time can really teach ourselves to be pretty damn accurate considering. Now if I could just get my computer to speak as eloquently as yours then I'd be in a much better place. Kudos

what is the best prep protocol for getting good results from BIA bioimpedence measurements? You mention not eating/drinking and doing it in the morning. it makes sense to have an empty bladder/bowels. But wouldnt being dehydrated or 'depleted' in carbs throw off the muscle mass calculations? I'm planning on having this done on friday afternoon. my gym suggests not eating 2 hours before - I'm not sure if that's enough or if I should drink water (they arent sure either) help: ) maybe sticking to fruit juices in the morning and makes sure I visit bathroom before?

Great videos you two We use this equipment in our lab at UNLV along with DXA, hydrostatic, BodPod, and InBody. I can tell you after conducting over a thousand DXA scans that it is not my preferred method for accuracy. The algorithm for body comp is based on very few specific ethnicities and it's an x-ray which is not proficient in measuring soft tissue. Next time you guys are in Vegas let me know and we'll try to set up some tests in our lab if you're interested.

For such a well educated fella as yourself i'd expect you to differ between percent and percentage points. The Bioelectrical impedance test doesn't have an error rate as high as 8 percent, since that would mean if you had a bodyfat percentage of 10% it could only vary up to 10, 08% or down to 9, 92%, but 8 percentage points. I'm sure you know, it's just a common error of speech that bothers me. :D Great video though. As they tend to be; )

this like everyones dream right here. seems like the optimal way to measure the metabolic rate would maybe be taking it at home. where u r comfortable. cuz I am sure the body is heightened just going out into public. although, i mean, depending on one's level social anxiety etc. HOwever, I suppose, since most people are not home all day, then the rate prolly raises at certain times and then drops once going home. amazing stuff tho wow.

Just got a RMR test after seeing this video as I was interested in my own numbers. My dexa was 15. 1% body fatMy RMR was 2261 which I thought was super high. I 6 weeks into a 12 week cut using SARMs (ostarine and S23) and 400mg Testosterone per week so I wonder if the gear is increasing the RMR? (First time injecting Anabolics)

When I use skin fold calipers I don't pay too much attention to the body fat calculation as it's just an estimate. But that ab fold thickness is a measurement. Once it starts getting down into single digits is when my abs are going to start showing again, whatever body fat percentage that may be.

I use BodyMetrix for my clients as well. It is definitely not as accurate for leaner individuals, the company told me it is rated for ppl 10-30% bf. I know for myself last cut it was consistently showing me at 6. 5% when I was visually closer to 8-9% so right about what you were thinking.

I did a bodpod and it was much higher than anticipated. The health educator believes it was due to my implants. He said it read them as fat. He was also surprised at how high it read and suggested I do calipers. I'm curious if results can actually be skewed due to that?

I know this is an old video but. in the last 6 months i went from 98 to 76 kg and my bodyfat % barely changed on my impedence scales had my skin folds done recently and they ver between 4 and 12 mm i have veins over my deltoids and the scales still tell me i am 24%. Useless.
