How to Eat Enough for Muscle Gains - Hardgainer Edition
video description
You mention carbs are less likely to become body fat in those that are active (vs fat. Carbs are in fact the macro that are most likely to become fat. Post workout they refuel your depleted muscles but if you have a blood sugar spike when there is no room for energy in your muscles it will have to store as fat. I'm not just talking about sugar, but (almost) all carbs break down very quickly.
Dietary fat is NOT easily stored as fat. Your digestive system has to work hard to turn the fat you ate into something it can use. That process can take hours offering sustained energy released in a way that will not cause such an insulin spike. It has to be converted again before it can be stored in your fat cells.
And for fun: Protein doesn't add much to your useable calories. I mean, there are calories in protein BUT your body does not use it for fuel (at least not after a LOT of conditions. Your body uses the protein to break it down to amino acids ( building blocks of your body ) and reassembles them to repair things like intestines and muscles. Calories are not all the same!
I know the pain of a hard gainer. I was 120lbs though my 20s. He's not totally out to lunch here in respects to a hard gainer but his reasons are wrong. If you pound the carbs, do so after a sweat inducing workout.
Don't over train. Eat nutrient dense food. Be consistent. Be patient. For a small guy, look for a pound a month. Everyone is a little different - please don't abuse your system and become diabetic in 10 years.

I was wondering if you could give me any tips to grow some muscle. My problem is my front delt on my right hand is a lot bigger than my side delts this, stops me from being able to work my upper chest since i cant feel or target it cause of this problem. Furthermore this problem stopped me from being able to target my lower back or triceps since my front delt is too big. My left side is perfectly fine, i actually have muscle on my lower back left side but not my right. So to combat this i have been doing side laterals but they dont seem to work also i have tried shoulder press but i dont feel it on my side delts the next day, i feel it on my front. So i was wondering what could be the issue stopping me from building a bigger side delt. BTW i dont eat the way i should not a lot of protein but high carbs like bread, pasta and rice. Could this be the reason i can't rip my muscle so it can grow bigger?
Please help i am desperate my upper chest for my right side looks bony i need help what shall i do, is it the eating a big part of being able to rip your muscle?

so i raised my calories by 500 calories because i realized my weight was staying the same everyday (I weighed 145 every morning when i was eating 2, 200 calories/ day), then my weight went up by 6 pounds basically overnight (as soon as i increased my calories by 500) and now my weight is steady at 151 and has been the same for a week now. How can this be possible? and what should i do

What is your opinion on a mass gainer? I realize I should be eating for my nutrition, but my work limits me as far as breaks go. I am on my third bag of mass gainer and gained a few pounds, just curious what you think.
Thanks!

how did you determine the number 16 was an appropriate amount to multiply to find how much of a caloric surplus you needed?
