Bench Press 225 Pounds for Reps in 1 Year (or less) HookedOnTheBay: I like your videos man. Truth and reality. I'm that guy your talking about. Went from benching nothing to 225 for around 4, and a smooth 250 1RM. I've been stuck on these numbers for a while. I need to train smarter not harder.
In your opinion: Would it be effective to train chest once a week, hitting the first 1 or 2 exercises heavy and low reps, followed by volume and hypertrophy work?
Or would it be more effective to drop the volume and hit chest heavy 2-3 a week like the usual strength programs?

Hey man. I've been lifting for almost a year now and I've noticed some gains overall. I couldn't even do the bar at first, but after a year i got around 135 lbs on my bench. I've been stuck at the weight for 2 months now, but can't seen to increase my weight. I also eat the amount of calories needed and workout 4 days a week. I've tried to switch my program around, but turned out to a failure. plz help me; )

Ive been training for 10 months and 3 weeks and started with a 78 lbs bench press for 5 reps at a bodyweight of 146 lbs at a height of 1. 90m. Now im benching 225lbs for 4 reps and deadlifting 355lbs for 4 reps at a bodyweight of 190lbs. Since i've still got more than a month to hit the 1 year mark i'd say that this guy isnt wrong at all. Been lifting 6 days a week tho so invested a lot of time.

Im training for a year now and can bench 225 for 5x at 170lbs, took me about 5 months to hit 130 bench for reps, because i wasnt conistent enough, but it blew up after training consistent and focusing on crushing my chest by benching my 3-6 rep max for like 4 sets and 2 sets of pause reps with low weight. I could really feel the pump in my chest.

I don't agree with being able to bench as much as you said. then again I do feel it comes to leverages as you said. After 1 year of trainning I am able to hit 505lbs deadlift, 245lbs bench and a 365lbs squat. I am 6-0' and 183lbs, I have a wingspan of 6-3'. makes my rom on the bench much longer and therefore harder to progress on.

225lbs BP is phenomenal for any amount of training. I have been working out in gyms for over 20 years and I can count on my fingers how many people I've seen BP 225+. The reason that numbers are often inflated is because people are trying to sell systems and products: -buy x and you too will BP 300lbs in 10 days! -

Guys need to chase realistic numbers unless you're a freak you can't keep up with the big boys target a 1. 5x body weight bench press 2XBW deadlifts 2XBW squats these are achievable but still challenging goals with proper training achievable with 18-24 months and means you are strong for your body weight

I just started 3 month ago I warn up with 135 I do 20 reps and if I do it with no problem I go to 225 and do 3 reps to my chest press I do 4 set so 3 reps and then I go down to 185 and I do them like 8 reps of 4 sets, and I continue going down. What I think is go. I weight 150 and am 5'6 tall

Any pressing movement is tough for me to progress in. I see newbies coming in and getting 225 for a set of two. it can be extremely discouraging, but when it comes to pulling movements, I'm able to dumbbell row the 130's with clean form. So I guess it levels out --.

'm 16, been training for 5 months started out not being able to bench the bar and can now only bench 30kg 5x5. What am I doing wrong? Is it my height cause I'm 6 foot. I do full body work outs 3 times a week and have but on about 8 kg since I started
