Progressive overload is a simple concept for massive muscle gains And you won-t reach your muscle-building potential without it. Your muscles grow in response to training stimulus, so if your muscles are going to grow and continue to grow, you need to continue in a pattern of progressively making demands from them. When we introduce stress onto our muscles, our body is forced to adapt by building new muscles. It does this in order to prepare for any possibility that you-ll have to handle the same stress again in the future. If we fail to increase that stress, however, our body will fall under the impression that it doesn-t need to prepare for another challenge, and therefore, doesn-t need to repair and grow. But if we continue to add stress, we-ll be forced to adapt and grow over time. And that is the promise of progressive overload. muscle growth. In this video we-ll go over how to achieve progressive overload as well as provide examples on how to implement this into your own training. Let get into it!

This video is better as he ain-t ranting for 15 mins like most vids, short and simple
Progressive overload is so simple and also brilliant for experimenting like I do 1-2 exercises for each muscle group each day ( Monday - Friday ) I have 4 weights and start of the month I do 20-15-10-5 reps and each week I-ll increase the reps by 5 and at the start of a new calendar month I-ll increase the weight by 2kg ( depending on exercise ) and repeat the rep range process, I do a combined 10 exercises each day and workout takes a max of an hour and I-ve not failed to gain more muscle of 11 years obviously the progress is so much slower now as the longer your performing hypotrophy the slower the progress becomes each passing year but such an effective and efficient style of training: )

Very nice, and very clear overview of the correct process of resistance training for hypertrophy. However, it seems that several professional Exercise Science researchers such Dr. Shoenfeld have found that the rest time between Sets need not be so very short. Their research indicates that a longer pause between Sets (2 to 3 min) may even be more beneficial for Hypertrophy and Strength than the standard one to one and a half minutes. I find research into the amazing human neuro-muscular system totally fascinating! And, I Thank You for Your important instruction on this complex subject.

as much as you have valid points, you should also talk about reload, which is very important to let your muscles rest as well as being used. I would recommend the RIR system, Reps In Reserve. First week: 3-4 reps in reserve each set, second week: 2 reps in reserve each set, and third week 0-1 reps in reserve, fourth week, half the weight of week three but the same amount of reps. You get muscle stimulation as well as muscle rest

This don't work, you got it all wrong. Back to front. Lift heavy first then gradually de-load and increase reps as you go from set 1 - 4. this adds greater anaerobic conditioning. improves your muscle capacity to grow. This backed with science not anecdotal here say. Good day.

with all this being said. you must also get enough rest and not over train. those 2 things are not easy. and always try to eat the right types of food and amount of food. this is very hard for most of us.

I thought doing a set then texting on my phone is what causes growth. Signed most of the idiots who take up all the machines and stations in the gym! /sarc

This video is a great one. I bench 100kgs for 3reps. I intend to stick to it until I reach 20 reps. It is the only sure way to bench 140 kgs.

This is what I've been doing for the last 3 years as it worked out well for me, it's good to see some confirmation this is the way to go: )

I am late to the party but thought is what 8 reps (not 10-15 ) and overload for 3 set now it is 5 set taking all day at the gym!
