ICE CASTLES - In Dillon Colorado! - Fernweh Chronicles

Looking for fun family activities to do in Colorado during the winter? Look no further than the Ice Castles in Dillon! We chose the Ice Castles to be our first video in a series of fun things to do in Colorado, and we weren't disappointed. Some helpful information from our experience: The Ice Castles are created solely out of ice, so therefore they are weather dependent. If we have an abnormally warm/short winter, the duration of time that the Ice Castles will be open will be shorter than if we have a longer/colder winter. Tickets are purchased for a specific 30-minute time slot, which is when you are allowed to enter. Once you are past the gate, you can stay for as long as you'd like! We went on a Monday and entered at 4: 30pm and stayed until about 6: 15pm, which was a great time frame for our almost 18 month old daughter. When we arrived we almost had the entire place to ourselves, and by the time we left the lights had started to illuminate the castles from inside the ice. Definitely buy tickets beforehand if you're planning on going during a busy time or during the weekends, as they do sell out! Tickets are slightly cheaper on the weekdays than the weekends, and kids under 3 are free. The ground isn't slippery, it's just snowy, so make sure you wear boots. Also wear gloves and snow pants if you want to explore all the caves, since you'll be crawling on your hands and knees! Bring a sled for little ones! The sled we used for Liv was from Target and is great for babies since it has a back support: When Liv wasn't in the sled Tara carried her in her Wildbird ring sling which is great for quick and easy ups. Don't even attempt to bring a stroller, or you'll get stuck in the snow!

so Im going to assume the same people do/have/make ice castles in Nh also. they had, in Nh, the same EXACT sign about 25, 000 tons of ice. also, the slide looked to be constructed the exact same way. I wonder how many other locations they have as well

Really enjoyed the vlog! She-s super cute. Lol. Do you happen to know when the Ice Castles open? We are headed to Dillon in November and wanted to see if they-ll be open once we get there. Checked the website and it just says closed for the season.
