Wind Rivers: Fastpacking the High Route and Dodging Storms - Mountain trips

Day one of our 82 mile fastpacking trip through the wind river range. Blake and Aaron have been obsessing over every single ounce, me, not so much. Which is probably why my pack was the heaviest. Not sure it would matter if we weren't trying to go 20-25 miles a day through the rough mountainous terrain of the Wind River Range in Wyoming. Here's day one of our very eventful trip, the salad days when we were well rested and still thought the idea of sleeping rough in the mountains sounded like a splendid idea!

I instantly recognized the mountain landscape starting at 6: 41 (and clear to the end) where you stopped for your first night on the trail. This was my sublime destination on my first trip (solo) into the Wind Rivers in 1988. I spent a few days there. It's great seeing it again, just like I remembered it! Pictures from there still adorn the walls of my home.

Why is it necessary to film everything you do? Leave the camera at home you God damn media junkies. You are not anything special, what a waste of a trip and disrespect to the Winds. Truly lacking the purpose and understanding of this wilderness, disgusting media pigs. Can't live without attention.

Was also there in Aug of last year. I messed up my upload and put the wrong year. We spent 14 days fishing, exploring, climbing mostly off trail instead of fastpacking miles. We did get caught in a few storms though. A serious hail and lightining storm over Lizard Head Pass. Good times!

I would love to get any ideas on how you obtained info for your intinerary. This looks like an amazing trip and I hope to do it soon. Any bear incidents? How'd you like the Ultimate Direction pack (liter size? Thanks for the video and the inspiration.

I dont understand. Why go so fast. How can you enjoy all that beauty when you dont even have time to see it. I thought the point of the outdoors was to get away from civilization and all the stress.

What a trio of beasts! Stellar, crazy-cool and a little bit nutty. As usual. living vicariously through you handsome fellows. And, yes, I was not paid (much) to say positive things.

That mosquito looked like it hit the jugular bullseye at 6: 40ish. How do you guys handle ticks and other blood suckers in those shorts?
