Strasbourg, France, the 2nd seat of the European Government (the parliament) is one of the top 10 cities to visit in France. It is a wonderful combination of Germany and France. Whether you are wandering the Grande Ile and Petite France or one of the fabulous museums or hunting for a place to stay that does not cost an arm and a leg, there are many things to love and hate about visiting Strasbourg. This video gives you the best and worst of Strasbourg

This city is amazing. You can take a tram to Germany in 15 minutes. There's a lot of towns in Germany near by plus all of the towns in Alsace are breathtaking. Castles and vineyards everywhere. Things are not super expensive at all and parts of Strasbourg can be sketchy but those are far away, take time to explore the city, and find those places out of the tourist area it's worth it 100% the people are very nice too! Definitely check out Ribeauville and Colmar!
Lived in Strasbourg for three months!

LOL! Marc, thanks for posting your Strasbourg-video!
If anyone of you like to spent some time here and you want a cheap accomodation try to get a Hotel in Kehl, Germany Take the bus or a taxi to Strasbourgs city-center. From Kehl it's only a 10 minute drive. For cheaper food and drinks visit the Krutenau, the students quartier with lots of bars and Restos. If you like to see how beautiful Strasbourg is, see my according video.
Thank you and au revoir!

I also agree with other comments about the wealth Alsace outside of Strasbourg, too.

Only place on my Rhine River cruise I was panhandled. A woman walks up to me and asks me if I speak English. I nod. Then she hands me a note explaining how she is a single mother without a job, no money, etc. So technically she wasn't asking me for money- just handing me a piece of paper with her sad story printed on it. i gave the paper back to her and moved on.

Thanks for all of your videos, i find it all true and helped me a lot when i traveled to Germany last August, the hard question is coming up, i don't have time for seeing Heidelberg and Strasbourg and colmar, so i must choose between both cities, do you have any recommendations?

No Lisa, Paris is not the best representation of France, it's too touristic! Try Lyon, the capital of the gastronomy. And if you have enough time, take a train to Chambery and go walking on the mountains. It's less touristic, cheaper and more beautiful!

No there are no extra for Americans. Prices are the same for everybody, they are TTC which means taxes included and are normally visible from the outside (check on a carte in the street or a paper on a window)

Hmm as a Frenchmen it's difficult to say Lisa. But for most foreigners, when they talk about France they talk in fact about Paris so maybe Paris is the best representation of France.
