I agree the Grand Canyon doesn't disappoint. If I had to pick another thing that doesn't disappoint it's the sequoias. It's not a place, but you can see them in Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Parks, and I'm sure in other places as well. The biggest ones are crowded and selfie spots, like General Grant, but there are many of them alongside nice walks you can see and they're breathtaking. Another one is Death Valley. You don't expect it to be big, colorful, and varied. It's not a flat desert, it's rugged, full of colors, from mustard yellow canyons to red cliffs, and metallic tainted rocks. Another one is Utah National Parks. Yes, all of them. Don't limit yourselves to Bryce and Zion. Arches is amazing as well. Canyonlands is a hiker's paradise, and Capitol Reef has many nice secrets too. Petrified Forest is often forgotten. It's a long way from the classic National Parks of the West, but so worth it. It's not just about the trees, it's about the mesas, the painted desert, the isolation. Saguaro National Park is also worth. Although nearby Tucson sucks, Saguaro and its cacti are just amazing. And so is Joshua Tree National Park, much better than the ugly towns that surround it like Palm Springs and Palm Desert.
In this list I didn't put classic stuff like:
-Yosemite, lovely but not that great if you know other mountains such as the French Alps. Glacier Points is amazing, but the rest is very crowded, and the hikes aren't that great. Too much concrete.
-Monument Valley. It's an amazing sight. But it's also a sad sight, with the Navajo struggling to make a buck out of their souvenir stands scattered all over the drive. I wish the government had a real plan for native Americans. People keep talking about blacks and latinos in Americas, never about their native people, who were almost wiped out. It's the same fate as the Australian aborigines, and I really don't understand it. You stole land from these people, massacred them, and yet you treat them like crap.
-Big Sur. It's an amazing drive, but it's slow, crowded (especially on week ends) and although on scenery alone it's more impressive than the Great Ocean Road in Australia, it's less enjoyable because there's less stuff to do.

Where the hell is LOS ANGELES? LA is one of the MOST important places in the US and it doesn't even make your top 10 for the western United States? Doesn't make much sense. I mean we're talking Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, amazing beaches (Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu, Laguna, Huntington, Little Tokyo (where the California roll was created, the Walt Disney concert hall, Beverly Hills & Rodeo Drive, one of the largest gay communities in america in West Hollywood, the sunset strip, amazing Mexican Food, mission San Juan Capistrono, great art museums like The Getty Center & LACMA, great views at Griffith Park, Union Station, Olvera Street, and so so much more! The beach, movie stars, sunny weather, and beautiful people. What more could you ask for?

Hey I like your videos, glad to see San Diego on this list. I would however disagree that there's not a ton of things to see there.
All the cool museums and amazing architecture at El Prado in Balboa Park, The Midway and Maritime Museums, Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial, the iconic Hotel del Coronado, historic Old Town, La Jolla Shores and Cove including the Caves, plus the 2 places you mentioned.
I think you could even do a top 10 list on it.

screw denver colorado. come down to western colorado. where real mountains are. where you can raft, mountainn bike, ski, snowboard, skydive, canyon jumping, and so much more. Denver. blah. woo. another city. with a small part of the rockies you can see on the horizon. If you go to the west of colorado you are IN the rockies.

All these haters! Los Angeles is a city to move for your work, I won't necessarily say for the culture/vibe. I grew up hour away from downtown and have never been to hollywood blvd. Still not sure exactly what there is to see there other than movies premieres. Santa Monica is awesome tho!

Wife and my son are coming to The U. S of A in around march 2015 and finding that your vids are really great information for some places I wouldn't have thought of. Whats your thoughts on hiring an R. V. and doing the whole of the ol route 66?

Good Lord- Seattle? Really?
I grew up in Shit-attle (or more accurately was forced to spend most of my childhood there. Lots of rain and lots of unfriendly people. I left 15 years ago and there is no way in hell I would ever move back.

I've been to the Grand Canyon, great place, my biggest gripe is the altitude. It makes the air thin, tires me quickly, and causes massive fluctuations in temperature (seriously, one minute it was 60 degrees, the next it was 70.

As amazing as Grand Canyon is (and I've been river rafting there so I should know, it should have been mentioned with the other National Parks and Los Angeles should have been part of the list imo.
