Well actually, you can be forgave if you did any of these things except the Japanese part, if you never talk about political topics with a native Chinese, nothing will piss off a Chinese too bad, cause at the end of the day, you are a foreigner, they will understand that. In fact topics about Japan are acceptable among some of the young people, but the elders ain't cool with that, like if you said Japanese anime is way better than the Chinese cartoons to a person who is into that culture, ain't nobody's gonna be mad about that, hell even I grow up watching only Japanese anime. Just remember, political topics are very sensitive to Chinese people, it's very personal, they will only talk those topics to their family and their closest friends, if you are none of those people, just shut up about it and you'll be cool, Japan actually fall into that political topic category in China, cause we had some bad histories with each other, so now everything about Japan is political for China, so be careful about that.

When you got to number two, you showed two fingers, back-of-your-hand-side-out. This is very rude in the UK, equivalent to flipping the bird in the US. Two fingers palm-side-out is okay, that's the peace sign. But the other way around, to someone from the UK it is basically telling them to f off. I've noticed a lot of American people do this in videos, blissfully unaware, just thought it was important to tell you as you are obviously concerned about demonstrating proper courtesy. Love your videos!

great video! me Chinese myself don't even know the clock thing actually. here in Shanghai plenty of our culture was replaced by some western stuff already, i don't think many of the points in the video would be very offensive to us, not in Shanghai at least. it's still definitely great to know these when going to traditional towns.
please do not care about the green hat thing, it's so damn true lol but it's just a joke. feel free on customs.

Oh and who another thing: Don't eat everything up on your plate. In many countries, it's expected that you'll eat everything; failing to do so could be considered an insult to the chef. But in China, it's the other way round. If you eat everything on your plate, then to your host, that's a bit of an insult. It essentially implies that they're incompetent because they can't provide you with enough food.

He did go in depth about this but so I'm going to write it here, using one finger as a gesture to come is fine in America but in China, it is used as a command used on dogs so if you do it at someone your basically bringing them down to the same level as a dog (this is really bad because calling someone a dog is probally one of the worst insults you can say to someone China.

I only wish Chinese people would take the time to learn how not to offend the countries they visit. Im reading the comment section and it seems like Chinese people dont realize they arent the most polite with manners when they travel. So I guess when they spit and piss on the street in my city. Ill make sure not to point with my Index finger.

talking about other countries or politics for me is totally fine, i personally think they are great things to talk about. i suppose topics like Taiwan', 'Japan, 'Tibet' would only offend the very extreme ones. the unfortunate thing is, there are quite a lot of them in China. you can't ignore the diversity of 1. 4billion people, can you

The green hat thing - just do not give a green hat as a gift. But it's totally ok if a foreigner wears a green hat. People know this is a foreigner who has a different culture. Most people would be totally cool with it. Some people might tease you a little bit about it but they would have no intension to offend you either.

When I was a kid I used to paint the blue helmets of the UN peace-keepers green on the textbook. It was the best joke for a while. But walking on the streets with a green hat on is probably even more funny. Never seen anyone do that tho
