Great advice Mark. Re: bank notice, mine requires online travel notification which has worked perfectly until my last trip. My return flight was cancelled and I was routed through Amsterdam with a stopover keeping me in Europe a day longer that planned. I was restricted from editing or adding a new date to my travel and the bank auto response said I was allowed only one notification per 30 days. Ha! Well, the card was rejected my final day of course. Fortunately I had some leftover so I could buy a train ticket to Schiphol. I think I'm going to add a few days at the end of my future trips but then I may not be able to use my cards in the states. 1st world issues.

It's also useful to have a printed 'Google map' of your hotel location - and a printout of your hotel's name and address in the local language.
This is especially useful places like China, where the western name of a hotel is often different to the Chinese one, and not always recognised by taxi drivers.

Hello Wolter, I understand that you may not know the answer to this question, but if i want to live in London, England and I am from the United States, do you happen to know how to I would obtain a tier 2 visa then a Immediate Leave to Remain Visa so that i could legally live there, thank you

More sound advice. hard copy's. Hard copy's always.
Helps with those pesky taxi drivers who don't speak The jolly old mother tongue ( you can show them the address & the shortest route & who cares about being fat. I don't )

Also get an Internation Drivers License if you want to rent a car. Beware that it's actually a translation of your license, not another one so you need your license card as well.
