When I see or hear people rave about PEI, I think: Where have you visited beforehand! I live here, and have lived in many other provinces in Canada. Definitely the most boring place I have ever lived in. The people here are no friendlier than anywhere else I've visited/lived. If you've passed through rural Ontario/NB/Quebec, there's nothing new to see here at all. There's no wildlife on PEI at all, and there's no wilderness here at all. Everything here is geared towards tourists, and the continuous crawling for tourist dollars (and the subsequent lack of authenticity of the place) gets very tiring. If it wasn't for the fact that I have a commitment here, I'd be out in a heartbeat, and I'd have no incentive to ever return. I'd give PEI a 2 out of 10. Quebec, NB, and NS are nicer.

I remember visiting PEI the summer of 1988. People were debating the merits and demerits of the upcoming Confederation Bridge. Anyway, it wasn't done yet, so I took a ferry over from New Brunswick. Very beautiful, peaceful place. Lots of interesting history, as mentioned. It's a shame that most Canadians never even get the chance to visit PEI, being quite far and isolated from the major cities. Sometimes I wish I was born and raised in the countryside there, just to know what that lifestyle is really like. It seems so beautiful and the people are friendly.

Now its Covid -19 -2020 and Im not allowed to travel back home to PEI. And am relying on PEI videos to feed my home sickness. My advice is if you go to PEI DONT just stick to Cavendish. The EAST end of the island is actually the best place to go. Stay in a small cottage and embrace the local world.

That bridge is a blessing like back when there were no cars people had to ride there horses over the ice to get to the mainland and that bridge toke years to build some people lost there lives in the construction of that bridge and honestly that is one of peis best features

I don't understand why people are worried about the bridge lol. The sides aren't that low you don't see the drop just the water in the distance. I never heard of people being nervous about it until I started watching these tourist videos and apparently it's a common concern?

Watch out for local drivers. not too bright. someone stopped a car on a roundabout and start giving me priority getting on it. although seems generous. not realizing how dangerous it is. Local elderly losing knowledge and importance of yield signs.

Beautiful place to visit. Not the best place to live. You are treated differently if you came from away. Also not a lot of activities in the winter. Very much a summer place. But for a vacation is a nice place. Lovely beaches.

If you think PEI winters are long and cold, good luck in Ontario and Quebec. And they measure snow in centimetres like the rest of Canada.
