Great video! We spent 2 weeks in Norway in Sep '19 and absolutely loved it. We will absolutely return one day. However - as said, there are a few gotchas. For us:
- driving is a challenge - the road rules are very different, the traffic fines among the highest in the world and roads are often not posted with speeds etc. I drove 2, 000km in that 2 weeks - around Lofoten and then from Alesund to Bergen via the fjord region. I am very experienced in driving around the globe but for me it was at times anxious trying to avoid a many thousand Euro fine. It was a huge relief to drive in Italy after Norway. :-)
- don't ask for a 'traditional Norwegian seafood dish'. I did - _certainly dear, I'll make you something your grandmother used to make_ said the dear old lady with a smile. Um - I don't think so. My grandmothers were fabulous cooks and would never have dished up Cod tongues - battered and chewy. Yes - the tongues of Cod fish - they are large and horrendous. My stomach is turning at the memory. People are queuing up not to have them. Be warned! Like driving, we were very happy to land in Italy and eat Italian food after our Norwegian trip. Feeling better now. :-)
Yes - it is very expen$$$ive but if you can, it is a truly amazing place, notwithstanding the driving challenges and some of the strange food. You will encounter scenery, villages, roads etc. like nowhere else on earth. Many thanks for the vid and cheers from Sydney, Aust - Dave

I was in Norway in 2019. On my last day some beggars approached me and I felt bad for them. During my trip the Norwegian people were so kind to me. They seemed like genuinely good people who treat each other with great respect. So I decided to give 500kr to the beggars to give something back to the Norwegian society. However they were not grateful at all. When they saw the bill, they called other baggers and they surrounded me. They threatened me with a knife, insultet me in english, and took all my belongings (baggage with laptop, passport, everything. Where I am from we have poor people too and I knpw that their life is not easy but in Norway people seemed so nice so I couldn't even imagine that the baggars would act like this. They looked like the ones in this video and the images just popped back to my head. I know it was just one case but unfortunately it moved my imagination of the perfect scandinavian country with the perfect people a little bit. I never thought that Norwegians are capable of doing something like this because until then they made such a civilized and honorable impression to me. But something was different to them. I went to the police and they were kind and gave me a phone to call to my relatives so they could send some money and i could go to the embayssy, get a new passport, extend my visa and book a new flight home. I like Norway but I think I won't go there anymore.

Frequently the first thing said about Norway is how expensive everything is. Not in my experience. On a trip to Norway from the U. S, mountain west we stayed one night in the Boston area. That one night was the most expensive lodging of the trip. I will say we booked all our hotels and bed and breakfast nights in advance. Particularly in Oslo we booked multiple nights in one hotel. We booked other stuff in advance too like car rentals and train fare Oslo to Bergen. So the take away is Norway is like everywhere else. Bargains and good prices can be had by planning and research.
What all these videos omit is breakfast. Maybe not hostels but every hotel has a sumptuous breakfast. Typical would be a dozen types of fish, two dozen types of cheese, a myriad of pastries and breads, eggs several ways, breakfast meats, cereal, juices, and fresh fruit. Seriously allow an hour for breakfast. Likely you won't need lunch. I wouldn't fill a hamper from what they offer at breakfast but you could take a discrete couple of pieces of fruit and some pastries for a light lunch.

Nahh Im sorry I found Norway so friendly, not expensive at all considering you pay that in places not in Norway anyway,
Norway is definitely not that expensive at all if you are sensible and know what you are doing, Ive been one and I am going again of which did not bankrupt me,
The service when I last went was good never had one bad or rude person at all,
I have a really good friend in sandnes and she is such a lovely woman and so is her family
As for begging on the streets and drunks you get them all over the world please dont make it like its new to norway only usa is the worst for homeless and drunks

Ha ha. My Mom came from Oslo. My Grandmother used to own an Apartment on a hill.
What did I learn? Don't use the slay on the ice on the street. too fast.
Loved the boat rides, and the Forests. made a few friends out there, and they enjoyed scaring the crap out of me, saying a Troll is following us through the woods.
I'm planning on going back some time.

If you come here mid-summer its usually pretty hot and if you want to swim in the ocean come to Fredrikstad. The city has everything it needs restaurants with good food, great bathing places and a nice hotel. I have a summer house in Norway so thats how I know all of that. Beautiful country. Greetings from Liechtenstein

We visited on a UK cruise ship, so had all of our meals on board. On one of the
Norwegian ships you will pay more for a bottle of water, than you will with wine.
We went in June and it was comfortably warm, only rain was in Bergen. It's a lovely
country.

With todays curses compared to the dollar it should be a bit more reasonable. Also worth noting that you can manage on a budget if you buy and prepare your own food. Eating and drinkinc out is hellah excpensive.
