No! No! No! Memphis is a straight up SHIT-HOLE! Do not come here. It is infested with gangs, and they on Beale St too. You will get robbed and beaten if you go off Beale, or even shot! fer'real. real talk! Do not go down to Beale on Saturday night. Stay away. Go to Graceland, and Graceland only do not walk around the streets there, it is nasty. Go see the mansion and leave. If you go downtown Memphis, go to Gus's Chicken and Gus's chicken only, don't walk the streets by yourself. Go down south street and stay on south street only to the train station and back on s main. Nice area but a block over left or right is the ghetto, ya'feel me! The Beale St beggers are notorious, and will hound you for $$$$ which is illegal in Memphis, but the police don't do anything. Visit the Peabody, and the Peabody only do not wonder off. They have some great breweries in the area, but are in the ghettos, please be safe when you are here, if you pack, pack, ya know what I mean. Memphis cannot have nice things, the city council here are shit and thieves and liars and corrupt. The police here are short staffed, and will not respond quickly - they will take their time. This is straight-up real talk! Come if you must, but be on the swivel at all times.

Yeah, most places I've been I wouldn't suggest flashing my money or leaving the car unlocked. There are always those people that live in other cities who are shocked when their registered gun is stolen out of their unlocked cars parked in their safe neighborhoods. It's kind of ironic that anyone that goes so far as to get a carry permit, purchase a gun and keep it on them at all times will get all the way to the house that they must protect and leave their gun, laptop, jewelry and other pricey items in their unlocked cars. Usually it's the teenagers in their neighborhoods committing these crimes as well. at least some of the time. Ironic. I love Memphis. You should be cautious anywhere that you visit. Goal: try not to look like a tourist. Own it. Be comfortable and enjoy.

Sure are. You get in a conversation with an overly friendly person, get ready to pay. in downtown Memphis. Someone will try and sell you some hot merchandise. If you are a young, un- assuming woman, you may get hit on by a pimp. Some of these panhandlers are threatening. They need bus money. They need food money. Do not look at them in the eye. And do not let them see you with money. Avoid the people of Memphis at any and all costs.

Just seeing this video. my family visited Memphis about two weeks ago and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Slave Haven is a must as well as Sun Studio. I have three teenagers and they all raved about Sun! Also, we stayed at an Air BnB in Overton Square and found a nice breakfast place called Bob's Barksdale Restaurant. The staff of that establishment were first class and gave us a real sense of southern hospitality.

I my travels black people are so nice, but not in Memphis. The majority have a bad attitude, and act like they have a chip on their shoulder. Guess because MLK got shot here. I was talking to a black woman while waiting in line. Took her 10 minutes to talk back to me. Her friend with her, looked at me, then looked at her, like why are you talking to her, she's white. Wish black Memphians were friendly.

Most shocking thing in Memphis to me was how amazing the botanical garden was.
But how friendly people are? I have to assume you were talking to other tourists and not locals. or they were drunk on a fun night out. Most locals I've seen in Memphis are stressed and mad as hell

dont waste your money on Graceland it is soooo boring and a waste of money, very overrated tourist trap. Also every bar on Beale st charges a cover fee past happy hr unlike New Orleans and Nashville.

What's really going to Shock you, is the Fact you're risking your life driving down the Street! Notice the repeating of Word Shocking, that's a clue to what will happen to you!

Native living Dallas, but get back often. My favorite night spot is Mollie Fontaines. Its one of a kind with great food, drinks and the funkiest vibe. Check it out.
