And last but not least we are in between Valtellina and Valsassina that are both FULL of fantastic walks and mountains, but we have plenty of them also directly on the lake! The most -famous- on the lake is -Sentiero del Viandante-.

Hey Lexie I. live just here -Como lake. stunning right but. there are plenty of vudeos abour lake Como describing the same places and luxury hotels. 3Hours are nit enough. there are other places more authentic aroubs the lake like Mandello del Lario ( oriental side) like Malgrate like Pare' di Valmadrera. and many iffering accomodation foor every Pocket
Boats rental. sports. promenades. shopping. every kind of restaurants even 2 star Michelin and beautiful surrounding. the best in my opinion is to avoid Bellagio and Varenna during high season. after that I agree wuth you about parking and prices but as everybody can imagine these are crowd's touristic places

Ciao! I am from Lake Como and I agree with the fact that you defenitely should not take a car here because there are not so many parking spots and in summer there is too much traffic. You can use bus, water public transports or walk! ;)
In Varenna I reccomend the Castello di Vezio which is a wonderful castel from where you can admire the first part of the two branches of Lake Como. It's the place where you can see the most wonderful view on Lake Como!
And if you want to enjoy it completely, you have yo go off season (april/may and october. It's not too crowded and the colors are wonderful!

I enjoyed your energy and your smile but I visited it a few month ago and it was a disappointement for me. This lake is really dirty (particularly in the old town of Como. Too many boats doing business, it's really really polluted. You'd better not swim in it. The color of the water is awful compared to the lakes in switzerland (but it's not the same budget) that I really loved. I don't think i would ever go back to this lake. Jus after visiting lake of Brienz, I was too disapointed. Sorry for my english, i'm french.

There are definitely budget friendly alternatives, even hostels, B&Bs and such. Also I reckon you had a relatively short time, but Lake Como and the surroundings, up to the Alps (1-2 hours by car) are much more than those few places. And every other place around here is stunning and beautiful like Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio (which are surely among the most tourist's known locations.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Lake Como. I have the luck to live near it and. well, it's plain wonderful.

Really nice video! As already said, September could be a perfect month for visiting, way less crowded and gentler weather. If you're into kayaking and looking for an economy/dynamic vacation you can rent a kayak (or bring your own) and make a round trip of the whole lake, sleeping in one of the many camping sites on the shores. They come in every kind, from plain old campings to glamping luxury sites.

I've been there yesterday, it's totally breathtaking -, during day and night. Tip: better go out season and stay in Lecco town for less than 50 euros/night in small apartment - I Bravi.
