China Vlog Day 16 // Goodbye from Shanghai // 2017. 5. 6 Susan: The end of this episode was so beautiful and moving. It is so good that you made this trip when you did, before the coming of the pandemic. I was struck by how much the life of people in Shanghai is different and yet the same in many ways to many other cities around the world including those in the U. S. I loved the way the high rise building were lighted in an assortment of bright colors. The effect was joy and whimsy. I also really enjoyed seeing what effort your family in China made to show you many views of life in the cities and villages of your ancestor's homeland. I have savored all of your videos for the past couple of years, but this series of China vlogs has a special, meaningful quality. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Great Vlog series. Really appreciate you sharing and showing a culture I'm not familiar with. I love learning about different parts of the world and really enjoyed all the episodes. Are there other nationalities living in the area you were in? I also noticed the people didn't appear to have the obesity issue like Americans, is that mainly because of the diet & walking every where? The family unit in China seems much closer or was it just because you were visiting? Would love for y'all to do a post trip report & share more about the Chinese culture & some of the differences from living in America. Thanks again for the time you guys put into this & sharing the time with your family.

Wow what a trip. Thanks for the whole vlog series of China and that last skyline part was priceless. At this point in the year, with the whole pandemic, lockdown, and masks things going on, this is a true time capsule from the time when everyone was still chilling and full of hope for everything. Brings back a lot of memories of when I was there in Shanghai in the 2018.
I will be kind of 'taking the risk' and traveling to Shanghai next month with my girl. Hopefully it will be great and safe lol.
Thanks again for the China vlogs. Please be safe and keep journey on after everything settles down.

16: 18 that Sparkling City of Ruin music pick fits so well into the context on multiple levels that it literally turned this video into one of my all time favorite.
I have never played Legend of Mana before nor heard of Yoko Shimomura and it basically turned me into a fan, it also made your Japan 2016 VLog Day 10 all that more special.
I don't keep in touch with the extended family in Asia anymore, seeing you guys making connections with your roots and how some bonds still remain really made me sentimental. Keep up the good work, you guys are creating something inspiring.

What an amazing trip guys. The itinerary seemed hectic packing in every day with activities. Did you feel it was too hectic? It's probably indescribable for you being back to experience your family roots and meeting the very generous and loving relatives you had no communication with in the past. Kudos to a great vlog. China is a beautiful country.
