I wouldn't be so overly pleased. Etihad cram you into a tiny box, and call it first class. I don't know why they do this, because it's a horrible policy, especially cramming so many people on the plane as they possibly can, even in first class so that they have to face some people backwards to make them all fit.
Just look how many first class seats there are in that cabin. On other carriers, there's a lot more space inside the first class seat compartment so that you don't feel claustrophobic.
Etihad do not do themselves any favours by doing this.
There are much better first class products on the market than Etihad and this awful experience.
Overpriced, even for first class, especially as it's nothing more than an average business class seat.
Having endured Etihad First Class on a number of occasions, I now choose not to fly them. Emirates was a little better, but not by much. Qatar first class is probably the better of the three Middle Eastern major carriers.

In more recent videos, Jeb has complained that viewers claim he does not drink his adult beverages. Viewing this older video, he clearly did not taste the martini! LOL More importantly, I miss the days when there were plenty of yewtoobers showing what a regular passenger could expect on a flight. Many yewtoobers have reached celebrity status, where they obviously get special treatment from the airline and the flight crew. It is very common to see a yewtoober get one seat to sit in, plus a second seat that the FA makes up as a bed. I have flown around the world many times in J/F, in actual paid seats, and I have never gotten a second seat. With the new paradigm, many reviews come across as paid advertisements, rather than honest reviews. I am not attacking Jeb in particular, but this seems to be the trend among yewtoobers. Just watch how many of them can be found flying for free on every inaugural flight, and even filming each other at these events.

Probably, check out the correct pronunciation of flight stops/destinations--e. g. Pacific Island hop--before making a video. I've been to all stops on business, and mispronunciations could suggest lack of preparation--other stops as well--other flights. Not sure Southern roots prepare one well for international travel--could suggest lack of a liberal arts degree-. Could supply specifics I notices=d, if you wish.

Here I go again: But what is economy like on that 14 hour flight? I mean, of course 1st is going to be fabulous at US$13, 000 for a ticket. Please review real stuff that isn't a promotion for the airline. You said nothing negative about Etihad. I'm sure they are thrilled with you and more free tickets are forthcoming. I'm not trying to be mean, I just want honest journalism. Thanks.

I can attest to the deliciousness of the steak sandwich. One of those rainbow prism cushions graces my couch. I have to agree with some of the other comments on the decline of service along with overpriced first/business fares. Appearances matter in ME countries to a large degree. Their financial situation is approaching dire. Possible to see Emirates operating out of AUH next year.

I am unable to travel in any vehicle riding backwards - I get a major headache or just am sick. Flying backwards does not appeal to me. Aside from that personal issue, I loved the video (and others I have seen. Very informative & I enjoy your very casual commentary! It's very refreshing! I am trying to go back & watch as many of your videos as I can. Thank you!

Back in the 80's, many of UsAir's DC9 and 737 aircraft had row 1 rear facing. There was no first class. There was a foldout table between rows 1 and 2. 6 people could face each other. You could watch everything going on in the cabin. It was like presiding over the other passengers. I loved those seats, especially the view on takeoff! What great memories!

Your video sound quality is atrocious. Is this a video or a selfie?
Get a t-shirt clip-on microphone, a dedicated video camera, and a tripod.
You need to speak-up and lower the music volume because when you talk nobody can hear your voice unless the viewer turns-up their volume by a significant amount.
Do some practice runs before you post.

Jeb - really like your videos. The enthusiasm that you show for the experience that you are receiving is so authentic, same look I get when I am in any premium level cabin of service - big smile and just thinking - man, this sure beats economy! Keep the vids coming, you are doing great!

I feel kind of bad for Etihad and their financial situation right now. kinda weird seeing this in 2019 when theyre cost-cutting on a lot of things like amenities on board.
Does anyone know if this filmed while they were still a 5 star airline?

Always love your stuff Jeb, You keep making them and I keep watching them. Make one about going to the toilet and I watch it. No like you joke about clicking the thumbs down twice, Serious about you keep making them and I keep watching them.

Yep, my friends don't understand how for me any overseas trip starts right at the departure point and doesn't end till I'm back home and in the cab heading to my house. The airport, lounge and plane cabin are all an integral part of the trip!

Do you have a place for storing all the amenity kits you get from flying all these business/first class flights? What do you do with items you dont use on the flight (such as the Emirates cosmetic kit on the new 777 first class video?
reply

I know it's years later but I'm watching these cause cause I just like watching these kinda videos and I realized that your flight from Jakarta to Abu Dhabi is missing from the list of all the videos in this trip above.

I'm in a wheelchair and sometimes get on a bus backward because they have this mechanical arm and my stomach feels the slight Gs from that. I can only imagine what it felt like on an airplane.

Jeb you are a really big inspiration to budding travel reviewers and I too, have been inspired to come up with my own reviews. It would be amazing if you could check it out: )

One thing I have notice is that seating is on the opposite side of cockpit. it has to be facing towards the cockpit. most of the people will have problems sitting on opposite side

Ahh i flew previously in Etihads business studio on the same route (Ey 131) to IAD and i loved it. Thanks for making this video about first class, hopefully we all can try it out!

Don't hear much about showering--except a comment on one vid, about not showering for 7s hours--proper travel culture/regard for fellow travelers.

Why some airlines needs to make seat back wards? Doesnt matter if its business or first, I will get motion sickness sitting backwards

Best seat in the house till the fxckin engine blows apart youre staring at and you watch the fireball of your demise realized.

That is the first time I could not hear you speak because the plane was so loud. I do think that it was a beautiful flight!
reply

Im not sure if you know, but the rearward facing seats are supposed to be safer. Also the brace position is a bit different

The commercial shown at the end of this video for the movie Palm Springs look a lot like the movie Ground Hog Day. JMO

I actually felt a lot better flying and sleeping on the 787. Have flown both but we all have different experiences.

Hahahaha the video is awesome the food amazing it is funny because you enjoyed a lot what have eaten. Very nice.
reply

I think both the A-330 you took from Jakarta to Abu Dhabi and this one the B-787 engines seems too noisy.
reply

It seems to have taken forever to get off the ground. Was it because of extra weight or the gulf heat?
reply

Ahhh a young impressionable Jeb. Fun. an see the growth in traveler and character from experience
